Consumer Reports just released the lowest-rated cars of 2017 in 10 different categories. To get the overall score for each car they perform a series of road tests, consider the results from reliability and satisfaction surveys and use crash test scores. All of this information is then combined together to determine whether or not they recommend the car or not.
In the large SUV category, the Cadillac Escalade is the lowest-rated because of predicted unreliability, 16 MPG, and high price tag. In the family SUV category, the Dodge Journey comes in last because of below average reliability, negative satisfaction reports from owners, and poor crash test ratings. In the midsized sedan category, the Chrysler 200 is the lowest-rated due to below average reliability, low owner satisfaction and a problematic transmission. When it comes to the lowest-rated car in the small pickup category, this may a surprise. The Toyota Tacoma is the lowest-rated because of poor reliability and poor handling. Tacomas are Tanks!!! I don't know if I agree with CR on that one. Granted its a new body, new motor, and all but seriously…. Its competition is some of the worst truck makers for compact pickups. I'm going to have to say FALSE!
I am 54 and have never owned a Toyota car which was of "low reliability". First Toyota, my dad's "hand me down" 1973 Toyota Corona MK II. Great car. My father served in WWII. He fought on Pelelui and Okinawa as a Marine (sergeant) and bought the Toyota in 1973. A smart man. He very much liked Japanese cars and so do/shall I.
a toyota tacoma? low reliability? you got to be joking.
No way is the Tacoma on there they have always been rated extremely high, the frontier is junk, and gm's Colorado and canyon will not last long term
Car companies must pay for these reports. No way Tacoma is rated for low reliability. Gas mileage, handling, etc. Ok. Not reliability.
