  1. Hi Derek, Love your youtube, i'm from Australia. I was lead to believe that catch cans was only for diesel engines. I'm not a mechanic, it's just what i have been told. Why would you need a catch can on a petrol motor?

  2. Not sure how old these videos are at time of upload but I left a comment with a timestamp (49:56) on the previous nova video where you can see the camshaft is damaged. Re-commenting as a friendly reminder to have a look at that before it rolls out the door.

  3. Very nicely done! Hey I would of found a way to hook up some heater hoses from the engine and through the firewall. Seems like on a chilly morning or night a guy would appreciate some creature comforts as well. Great job on the Nova thus far. Very good quality build. A nice improvement over some past thrashing….. Long time viewer.

  4. Congrats on the win tonight! Can't wait to see this nova done! One question though, I see there are no coolant lines to a heater core, will this car have heat when it's completed? If by chance I win it, I gotta ask bc it's cold up here in minnesota, Snow or not. A guy should know lol

  5. Hey Derek,
Love how the Nova is coming along. Just FYI I personally love the simplicity and look of the 4150 4bbl style EFI manifolds that use a traditional style carbureted air cleaner on a 1,000 cfm 4bbl throttle body. I have an Edelbrock Proflow version on my G20 van with a hopped up Vortec 350. Would have been a very clean setup with that ram air style hood allowing you to run a factory style ram air pan aroubd the filter with a molded seal. Something to consider next time around. Just gives it that timeless clean look. Also if you ever have the truck accessories and need more room you can get a water pump for like a 2012 Express van that has the upper hose provision relocted to about 10 o'clock and has the same belt spacing. Just FYI the 2010+ LS3 Camaro also has the same belt spacing as the truck accessory setup, makin it easier on that budget to use factory parts. The Camaro pump has another great option for relocating the water outlet. Still enjoying your weekly videos.
    Chris

  6. Please don't forget about the MAT (manifold air temp) sensor after the air intake piping is ready to be assembled. You'd be surprised how many people forget that step and have a very poorly running engine. Love the videos, great work!

  7. Just a tip when tapping threads: use cutting oil and every few turns back it up a few turns and then forward till done. No surprises and never break a tap. You know all my rebuilds/overhauls I always went box stock. It's fun to see what's possible with resto/mods using high tech performance gear, very cool!
