If you owned one of the 300 Chevrolet Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Camaros and found out that some mechanic took it for a joyride, how mad would you be? Well, that’s the situation this couple in California found themselves in and they were just as upset as you would imagine.

Jalopnik reports that the couple dropped off their special-edition ride at a dealership for an oil change and air conditioner work and then when they were at lunch, found their car cruising along the road later. Of course, they followed the car and when they confirmed it was theirs and caught up with the driver they had some thoughts for him. The conversation was captured in video where the employee insisted that he was just “taking it for a test drive”. When the couple brought it up to the dealership owner, he didn’t dispute it instead he went public on Facebook saying: “This is something that’s embarrassing. This is something we do not condone. I apologize this took place and it will never happen again.” The owner offered money to compensate for the episode, but the couple declined. What would you have done?

This week on PowerNation Katie welcomes Rodney Beasley, owner of Designer Street Rods and two of his builds. First is a 1937 Ford truck owned by Bill Bowen. In a 4 year build, Rodney’s team did a lot of rust repair, built a custom chassis, dropped in a 392 Ford Stroker making 430 horsepower and gave the pickup a very classy Oak wood bed floor. They sprayed it with a custom PPG metallic almost Green color with a custom leather interior by Paul Atkins.

The second is a 1957 Chevy Bel Air owned by his father Ray. Again the team did some rust repair, dropped in 350 LT-1 making 425 horsepower and gave it a cool paint treatment. It looks like Black, but it’s Valspar’s “Deep Blue Black”. It too has a custom leather interior by Paul Atkins. Lots to take in this weekend including some great hands-on tech from our shops. See you this weekend PowerNation!

  1. Is this ANOTHER Camaro or is this the one where the owner SPECIFICALLY said to the staff that the car WAS NOT to leave the car lot and it ended up totaled ?
If this is two separate incidents these dealerships have a big problem.

  2. The mechanic i go to i do have drive my car when its needed to figure things out and make sure its good to go, but hes my friend and ive gone to him for everything for years. The kids at the dealership, hell no. Big difference

  3. i see you driving my car, i will follow you to see if you are actually test driving it, i had incident on one occasion to be in a tire shop buying tires for my then three year old dodge cummins turbo ram 3500, i bought it brand new, owned the title outright when i drove it off the lot the day it was new, i had it custom painted, a five inch exhaust, cold air intake, lots of chrome, it was a lot to look at,
and about 70,000 dollars invested in that truck,
i was seated in the waiting area,
all of a sudden i heard my truck start, rev hard, then come across the parking lot at full throttle,
i went out the front door nearly breaking it, and was right there in the work bay when thier guy stepped down and out, he's extremely lucky he didnt get torn a new @$$, my former years as a military man taught me self control, and that i did not want to be in jail forr beating him stupid,
i raised hell with his manager too, and didnt take the sweet deal on nicer tires than i wanted, besides that they would have looked stupid, i left there, DIDNT buy tires from them, and have NOT darkened the door of any discount tire dealership since,
if that camaro was mine, i would follow it, and if it was mis handled in any way, the police would be making a report against that employee for joyriding, regardless of how much that dealer tried to cover his @$$, they are liable to the extent of the law for my car,, and they can be sued too, and i can afford the lawyers to do just that,
that is just the kind of guy i am,

  4. So what, somebody was driving your collectors edition blah blah blah whatever American shitbox act like it's a Ferrari or a fuckin Bugatti… did he crash it burn the clutch scratch it if the answer to all those questions is no then shut the fuck up.
