Several European countries are looking to ban the sale of gas and diesel powered cars within the next few years. But now California, which is already known for setting the bar high for vehicle environmental standards, might be considering a ban of their own, Jalopnik reports.
California governor, Jerry Brown, expressed an interest in barring the sale of vehicles powered by internal-combustion engines in an interview with Bloomberg. Brown is an outspoken elected official in the U.S. when it comes to the need for policies to combat climate change.
The thought is that a mandate banning internal combustion engines is going to be necessary if electric vehicles ever catch on in the U.S., and California may be the logical place for it to begin. What are your thoughts on this legislation possibly making its way to the US?
