General Motor’s vice president of global propulsion systems said premium gas should be the new standard in the future in order to have more efficient engines. This idea has been around for a while but it’s particularly interesting coming from GM since they have 20 zero-emissions cars planned and are in the middle of consultations with the Trump administration on fuel economy standard changes.

And while fuel retailers have always said changing to Premium could improve fuel economy, that’s only true if engines are optimized for that fuel. Forbes reported that for the beginning of March, premium gas was $0.52 cents more than regular. So, the question is – will it be beneficial for consumers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
