When you’re switching from an automatic transmission to a manual it can feel like a daunting task. It usually isn’t as overwhelming as it feels, though! Obviously, the transmission itself has to be switched out, the shifter needs to be modified, the driveshaft, but one thing people sometimes don’t think about are the pedals. You obviously will need to add a clutch. The best way to do that is to swap out the box itself.

To get started, the steering column needs to be removed and the trim piece needs to be taken out to access the wiring harness connectors. Once you have that out, the pedal box should pop right out.

Once it’s out and you have a replacement ready to go, it’s time to make the switch. Don’t forget to install the clutch quadrant. To install this all you’ll need is a couple of spacers, the quadrant itself, and the pins that hold it in. A lot of pedal box assemblies are interchangeable so it just bolts right in. All you need to do is re-install the hardware.
