Actually they made Clevelands for another 5 years in Australia. All the later Panteras had Australian Clevelands
The best engine Ford made was the 400! If Ford had made a 4cylinder version of the 335 series engines with double overdrive transmissions. The imported brands would not have become so popular. Of course a inline 6 version of the 335 series head would have been an excellent idea too! The Cleveland series engines are awesome when multipoint fuel injection is added.
R.I.P. bud
Boss 289 had hemispherical heads (built to complete with Mopar) the cleavland had not been built/ the boss 302 adopted the canted valve heads/ cleavland used the boss Windsor style heads / not the other way around / the readily available cleavland heads were adapted to Windsor motors later on / edelbrock make boss heads and manifold kits today .
351 Cleveland ain’t a small block
Good show but not really fair
RIP Joe
I would love to see a stock stroke Windsor numbers.
High flowing heads not because of their high compression….. they were honestly too big from the factory. The 4V versions are even too big for some racing applications. That’s crazy to say about stock heads from the 60s….
What website were you using to look up the casting numbers? I’m trying to figure out what mine came out of
Know a guy that bulit a beyond beautiful 32 duece coupe . Plumb crazy purple with graphics and had not decided what to power it with. EVERYONE told him put a 350 chevy in it bit he said f**k that not in my Ford. He bought a bone stock 351 4V engine from a guy that had a old Mach 1 he parted out. It had the GOOD HEADS and he sent the engine to a custom shop that balanced it , ported the heads. Shaved them .020 and added a solid lifter race cam.and put a edelbrock tunnel ram.with twin 600 holleys . GOD ALMIGHTY that thing sounded awesome the 1st time we cranked it up. Added 3 inch hookers for exhaust and 4 spd with a 4.56 9 inch rearend. Talked him into taking it out on the town and wouldnt you know it a dude in a 69 427 chevelle rolls up and says nice car , wanna see how slow it is . Not knowing what to expect my bud said lets go smartass. He told me to.grab onto something and hold on. When the light changed green he dumped the clutch and flooted the pedal and I never saw a car disappear in a rearview so fast. That cleveland sounded so awesome as he ran it through the gears. We pulled ovet to let the chevy catch up.and he got out and said holy shit WTF you running in that .I never saw anything that f*****g fast. He told us later over a beer ( he ended up being a cool guy and he had a beautuful car too) that the 1st 75 ft all he saw was tire smoke from my buddys Duece and he could hear that beast over his motor as it seemed to wind forever. He later had it dynod and it topped out at 485 hp at 6800 rpm,s. DAMN WHAT.A ENGINE.
Realize this is a old post but a Windsor is a sb and a Cleveland is a bb. So much misinformation in your title. 😅😂
You are not so much comparing Cleveland vs Windsor as you are comparing 70s vs 90s engines.
and the cleveland is the small port version
windsor and clevelands of the same era have almost identical distributers , your video is using a late model windsor
Ford 335 series engines were NOT small block engines.
Wilson y ford bloque 351 mejor motor …
I've had all the V8 Ford engines from the 70s. I would take the 351cleveland over them all.
351 cleveland was produced from 1969 to 1981 the 302 cleveland was produced from 1971 to 1982 the last cleveland fitted by ford into a production car was in 1985
I grew up with Fords, but I now drive Chevys, because of Ford's blunders over the years. Why in the sam hell didn't they make more 351 Clevelands, and Boss 351s??? Thumbs up their asses… thumbs up their asses!!!
Adoro este motor 😃😃
CLEVELAND all the way. – 100 times better engine than the Windsor… ESPECIALLY the last two years they were produced. That being in Australia. The block and heads were crafted from the same piece of steel and would therefore, heat up and cool down together. You could pound the hell out of these, and they made amazing drag engines.
Bloody hell. Clevos were made until 83. In Australia. Both 302 and 351.
Clevo rocker ratio is 1.73 1970 2V should be around the 71cc. Even early 400s were 76cc
The base l/h outlet Windsor pump is the same as a Clevo or 429.
Felpro head gaskets are 050 thick unless you buy very expensive but good O ring ones which are 040
Ford is oil leaking junk. What a joke.
Poor fox body
I enjoy watching this.
Where did you go to find information on your Cleveland V8
The UN-power clowns show. You can bolt Cleveland head to a windsor block but they tell you there are not comparable.
Power Cleveland durability Windsor
Had a new 91 Ford f250 with a 351 Windsor…last Ford I ever owned.
Yall do understand, that the Cleveland and Windsor are as different as night and day? Nothing interchangeable without extensive machone work. In my day, if you had anything but the Cleveland, you had junk.
I have question for you , I just purchased a 69 Mustang w a 351 cleveland , its running but issues make me wonder ?? is IT ? or is it a 302 this video shows alot of the external pieces match mine engine as far as intake bolts 2V , water inlet ,valve cover bolts (my covers do not have the difinitive square'ish covers more rounded yet a slight rise so which doIhave ?Thanks
I have had people that are so confused on the difference between the 351 c/w
The Cleveland was the big block
The windsor was the small block
That's not a '71 LTD, it's a'73 Montego
I needed the oil pan from that mustang
The four V Cleveland was a super motor. Then the government killed them because of emissions and they began to produce crap cams for them. Once again you can blame the government like usual for everything ruined!!!!!
LIFE LESSON : 351 Cleveland = Reasonably economically powerful and durable engine ! 351 Windsor ( windless ) gutless pile o' junk GAS HOG ! ! ! AND Preferred by Ca. SMOG SMELLERS ! Oh yeah, no upgrades or swaps allowed ! ! ! ! ! And that's after 32 years of that crap !
Small block chevy v8 fan but the Cleveland was a good one.
4V and 2V heads for Clevland are a noticeable difference. Very noticeable.
9:05 paid 250$ for a Cobra Jet block!? What a find!
