Project Deep Sleep gets the ultimate sleeper engine. It’s a stroked 427, based on Ford’s new Boss 351 Block. After adding a high-performance parts combo, it’s off to the engine dyno, where the engine produces surprisingly stout horsepower.

  1. All those cubes just to choke them with inline heads? Why on earth anyone would build a Ford bigger than 351 cubes with inline heads is beyond me. Clevelands make a fool out of Windsor heads. The best high dollar WIndsor heads just barely pass the flow of stock, unported, 4V heads and you can get repops of those from Speedmaster for 600 a side.

  2. It would be nice if they provided a cost rollup. How much does it cost for this engine? Oh, dang. I looked up just the block and it cost $7,626…so we are talking about what a $20k engine?

  3. I have what’s called a BF FAIRLAINE (G8) with a 5.4 ltr boat anchor. But I have in my shed a ready to drop in 5.4 ltr 4 valve 355kw with super charger. I should mention the 5.4 ltr currently used is Factory with 3 valve. That’s correct the same manufacturer in Canada it’s been very good to me. As I’ve upgraded the timing belts and the fase changers along with the crappy plastic timing chain guides. Seriously what was FORD SERIOUSLY THINKING? . Especially on the last ever built Failane after 60 years of some beautiful production V8 models in Ford Australian mussel car manufacturering. Including the now multi million dollar 1971 Xy Gt HO PHASE 3 . 4 Speed top loader double clutch plate to suit. It was a family production car that could hit 145 MPH. IMPRESSIVE IN THEM DAYS ESPECIALLY IN AUSTRALIAN MOTOR RACING. BUT IT COULD NEVER EVER BE ACHIEVED W ITH OUT 🇺🇸American AMAZING FORD RACING HISTORY. IM GOING TO STRENGTHEN THE SUSPENSION UP GRADE THE BREAKS AND TURN MY TWO TON BEAUTIFUL LUXURY FORD INTO A 5.5 second 100 metre run. 12 second quarter mile? IT WILL HAPPEN. WHEN YOU WORK ALONE BOY YOU GET ALOT DONE. LOVING YOUR MOTOR BEAUTIFUL.🇦🇺🇺🇸👍❤️

  4. That air compressor tool to remove springs is very cool. When I was a kid I used to fill the cylinder with rope lol UNTILL I got maximum pressure to remove those pesky magnets to change seals ect and double springs. How times have changed. But today springs and seals are probably one of the easiest jobs for a novice like my self. Essentially 351 Cleveland’s and my favourite motor the fuel injected version of the 351 Windsor. They are both very very good engines provided you DO THE JOB RIGHT !! No skimming or you will regret it just plain and simple.❤😎🇦🇺👍🇺🇸

  5. I thought all early ford boss engines had canted valve semi hemi heads those heads look like windsor or chevy heads, something like puting ls two valve heads on a quad valve ford coyote engine🤔 (crazy) 😅 but i guess you can do whatever you want but i wouldnt call it a boss engine, thats kindof deceptive😉

  6. Damn that was fun to watch! How many minutes do you reckon were done there to get the 610?
You mention oil change and gallons of fuel…I know my 427 (410/450) gets a nice 8mpg in my '68 Ford F-100.
    Love this!
