I Bought The BEST Budget BMW Sports Car On The Planet! Factory Forged Engine, Easy 500 HP, RELIABLE! That was the title to my first video on my new to me 2007 BMW 335i and now I’m rethinking things. In this video, I take apart this engine and look deep inside to find a major factory defect. Actually about 5 factory defects but nonetheless we can fix this all on a budget and save a ton of money DIY style. Oh and if you’ve ever wondered how to clean intake valves on direct injection engines then this is your video. I clean them with crushed walnut shells and with chemicals. Enjoy!

They are also having some sweet deals for the month of November!
Watching this & remembering that a buddy got one of these declared as a lemon back in the day, lmao.
Any advise you can offer, I have been ripped off 3 times by the dealer and 2 other mechanics, I re opened now for the 4th time gave the head I to the engineer to check cams etc and the head, just to inform you I have done everything, injectors, cam eccentric shaft and coil packs and new plugs, but still misfire that is why I am assuming it's the 325 cam they inserted?
Hi bro I have 335i n55 engine e92, it had a misfire cylinder 6 and we just can't get the car right now for 2 years, the exhaust cam was damaged on number 6 lobe, a mechanic told me a 325 cam would work and he fitted but it still misfires, I am assuming it's the cam,
I have had mine since 2007 new all service done by me even from new, replaced with larger turbo's 4 years ago and only minor problemd along the way, I have had more problems with the Fords and Chevy's in my 65 years, it is a rockets ship.
I have a abs and dtc warning light on and I switched it with a replacement but still have the code on.
HEJ. Alex! Think you can convince Amsoil to give Aussie car nuts your dealer discount? Only one seller in the country! You can claim Pacific free trade agreement rules! A galon of Volvo P3 ACEA A5 B5 5/30W is $AUD130…….only Royal Purple charges that much here , similar LIQUI MOLY is $aud90 from distributor. If you want to hook up a new dyno shop /mechanic who is starting out with Amsoil ill send him your way!. Any chance of looking at Volvo hot cars?
I’ll never touch those pile of electrical problems with leaks. Idc how rich I am
You wanna come pick up my 07 335xi that’s been off the road since I’ve been in college and fix her up for me? Accepting index 12 donations and turbo donations🤣🤣
Only thing I've noticed is the guys that try to mod the heck out of an N54 that they have issues. Sure you can get tons of HP out of an N54 but with any engine the more you Mod it the less reliable you make it. Hate on the N54 all ya want but in it's stock form and properly maintained its an awesome engine.
What is the “sucker” used at 12:43? I would like to purchase one for cleaning my N54 intake valves. Great video, thanks!
Megusta tus videos saludos sur de chicago
Great vid…Super informative & interesting…Like Hoovie (but with mechanical ability)…keep up the good work.
Smoke on the water.
I just found this guy, and I gotta say I really like his upfront personality.
Common Sense keep the index 1 injectors in there until you get the index 12 shipped to your house
Don't forget to mention the filters that are ahead of the Vanos valve solenoids that you can take out with a torch and clean those off or replace them for 10 bucks
You should put that in your Google calendar to do the valve cleaning maintenance every five or six months
Why didn't you vacuum out suck out the cleaner and then use the slow motion drill with a clutch on it to clean the back of those valves with that brush?
Walmart self clean off carbon buildup on your intake valves with crushed Walnut shells to sandblast the back of the valves to remove the carbon along with the vacuum attachment
Replace the oil filter plastic cap with the aluminum one so that the little plastic insert with o rings go on does not end up breaking off? It's fifty bucks or less just to get that part it's well worth it
My idea of making it more reliable is adding motorkote hyper Lube to your engine oil two ounces per quart it will also make the bearings super lubricated in your turbos but your crankshaft and your cams will love you for it because it was super lubricate them as well permanently, watch the motor code video from the manufacturer and you'll kick yourself for not using it!
Lmao cleaning the valves is like scraping my bowl .
N54 is only deemed "reliable" today because every knows the weak spots, how and when to fix them. When this engine made it's debut in 2006…..it was an unreliable POS because no one knew ANYTHING about it other than it ate injectors and HPFP's like candy. It left thousand of new buyers just totally pissed off. Customers were waiting 3 months to get their HPFP replaced because BMW didn't even know WTF was happening. Now, people just know when shit is gonna break, so it's "predictably unreliable".
