  1. The head studs and graphite head gasket tells you that they had REAL plans for that engine design… which they did. They used that basic engine to not only power the 288 GTO but also the later F40. The two early supercars were twin turbocharged of course and intercooled which is what gave them the serious power. And the 288 and F40 both utilized a different drivetrain configuration… but nevertheless, the basic bones of the engine was the same. So now you know, you can safely BOOST a 308 and have a seriously beefy wolf in dobermans clothing. Or go do what STANCEWORKS did and just change EVERYTHING and stick a K24 boosted honda engine in… or even quirkier, a 3 rotor with a giant single turbo… lmfao… im getting off topic so I digress. Aside from these 308s growing in cost, they are still an easy and affordable way to have tons of fun and nobody would bat an eye at you when you change everything to suit your own tastes.

  2. Two timing belts is good idea for V engine. We got 16 valves, one of belts is broken and we have only one bent valve. Compare with 1.8 , 20 valves , 4 cylinders WV turbo motor. I had broken timing belt and 12 valves was bent.

  3. You dont have to remove the engine for belts or clutch. On mine and my fathers Ferraris it’s simple. Get in threw the wheel wells. It’s a waste of time and a money grab by dealers to remove the engine

  4. 08:32 The European engine spec was 255 hp and redline was 7700 rpm so the dual valve springs were probably a good choice. The Group4/Group B 308GTB rally cars were 288-330 hp and revving higher. This was all before mass adoption of 4-valve heads, ECUs and before the wide availability of synthetic engine oil.

  5. Timing belt service on a Ferrari 308 is NOT an engine-out process (That was said twice in the video.) Belts, tensioner bearings, waterpump, ect. all can be done through the right rear wheelwell. Substantially less effort than an engine-out service. Of course, you had a bent valve, so pulling the engine and going through everything at that point makes sense.

    If you don’t own a 308 for 17 years like I do , don’t talk about it and spread wrong facts all over the internet.

  7. Timing belt service by a specialist dealer in the UK is around £700 – £800. No engine out. However these are 40 year-old cars and things wear out (even without use). You should check the cam timing sprockets too – the early ones were plastic and should be replaced with the metal version.
