  1. These cars are very comfortable and reliable. Maintenance is key to any car, especially turbo cars. Like any automobile, they have a few issues to deal with. They are pretty easy to work on, parts aren't that expensive. The turbo models in the subaru lineup are more complicated than the n/a cars, I think thats probably true of most turbo/na applications tho.The nice thing about subaru is everything is rebuildable/ replaceable pretty easily. Every 100k you have timing components, water pump, reseal the engine and replace wheel bearings when needed(they actually last a long time tho. like 200k ). Engine removal is pretty easy and can be done in 25 mins.

  2. U love or hate Subaru nothing in between I love them soooo easy to work on like look no broken bolts no aluminum came out with the bolts like every Toyota iv ever touched and has a drain plug for the transmission and an the filter on the outside no one else does that it’s a no brainer and a dip stick for your washer fluid super cool and a starter u can actually find like honestly excellent design I’ll take the head gaskets any day no big deal drove 4 years with bad head gaskets Subarus don’t fail internally like all the other garbage manufacturers

  3. I had a 2004 WRX I bought brand new. Broke the 3rd gear synchro in the 5 speed at 15k miles. Had to threaten corporate to get it fixed under warranty. Wheel bearings made noise. Couldnt get subaru to fix it under warranty, Fix it myself. Blew the engine at 61k miles. Warranty expired at 60k. Rebuilt it myself. Found out it had a badly designed crank, new one fixed the flaw. Car would use a quart of oil between oil changes since new. Fixed that problem with the rebuild. New rings and ball honed the cylinders. Sold it to an enthusiast. Did I enjoy the car…yes…would I buy another subaru…HELL NO!!! The dealers all suck eggs. Only a mechanic can afford one of those piece of crap cars.

  4. I have the exact same Outback XT. And of course it is on my lift getting some suspension bushings and axles installed. Good thing my son is a Matco salesman! This a money pit but pretty easy to work on if you have lots of metric tools and another car to drive when you are working on it. Be sure to get the 6000+ page service manual too.
