  1. We love old cars because they'll talk with us… they understand us as we understand them. New cars are too full of themselves to have a decent conversation with us. They're so caught up with computers, fuel injectors, big stereos, air conditioners, power seats, power windows, power everything else, they don't know how to be REAL cars. My step-father had a '50 Pontiac, and Mom had a '55 Olds. They were good, honest cars and pretty well the last of an era.

  2. I owned 2, 1951 packards,a 2door and a 4door. Both were running, and tan so quiet and smooth sometimes you couldnt tell they was running.same motor that the military used in the boats like press Kennedy ran when he was in the service. These cars were heavy! If you hit a small car,you just hose of the big chrome bumper and kept going.'52& "51 models looked much the same. Ive heard that Hank sr actually died in a packard not a Cadillac, but im not 100% on that.packard was a luxury car that was as good or better than Cadillac .Great video man, thanks to you and your family.

  3. That Battery, The Usable, is an East Penn Manufacturing aka Deka Battery. It had an issues with connector appearance or a case issues (scratch or date code issue, anyhoo, they can be had for anywhere from $79-$99 and they are the same as a fully labeled Deka Battery. Deka Batteries are better than most as they use Full Lead Frame grid technology. Most battery manufacturers cut the sides and bottom of the frame off and remelt it as a cost saving measure, Deka leaves the full frame intact as it allows for longer life and stronger CCA's than advertised.

Find a Deka distributor near you, you will not be disappointed. When I worked there I got my Father In-Law a 2nd Marine Battery for him to utilize for his Frankenstein El Camino project, 22 years later and he is still using that battery…

  4. I know I'm a little late to the party, but if you'r still checking your "old episode" comments, I hope you fix her up and make her the shop limo or use her when you are going out for a fine dining experience. Great find as usual. I also hope that the mustard car you went to see is one car that should stay with that guy…..forever. I think you should grab up that ramp truck to fix up for when one of the boys takes his first car to the track or when you need an extra carry/tow vehicle for a family road trip to a showing of all the families favorite cars.
    🤘😁👍 Hello Hello From Canada!!!

  6. I rode around in a cordoba as a kid. That was before parents used car seats lol. Or at least my parents didn’t. Plenty of room to slide around in a turn. It was a peice! Remember it being worked on a lot

  7. Derek, I get a huge kick out of your throwback comments and off the wall sayings. It would be entertaining to see a reel of all your comments about country and western singers. Example: Wonder if Alabama is ever gonna do anything again, what’s Clint Black up to these days. 😂

  8. id leave that cordoba sitting right where it was, the motor in it would be a good motor to tinker with if theres another car to put it in, but the cordoba needs to become a refrigerator in its next life

  9. Derek that Packard should have the starter to turn over by pushing down the gas petal. The starter button must have been added. We had a 52 Packard clipper straight 8 automatic

  10. i just dont get detroit. this sort of body styling and build is so beautiful.
imagine what they could do with modern composites and metals.
    cmon engineer fellers.

  11. I'd like to give you a big thanks Derek..
