Why are they called OBS ?
I own a 94 C1500 (with soggy floor board sound deading I want to shit can). I couldn't help but notice that when you take the carpet out you throw the original sound deadening insulation away and then, you just install the new premolded carpet without adding any additional sound insulation. You aren't the first guys I've seen do this with 1990's Chevy trucks on Youtube. Does the premolded carpet come with sound deadening built into it? Or, you just don't you need sound deadening on a race truck?

2002 was the last year for those OBSs because the 3500 HD & medium duty models were the last models left in production. 2000 was the last year for the 2500 & 3500 pickups. 1999 was the last year for the SUVs & 1500 pickups although they began producing the next generation pickups in that same year at the same time.
