  1. I love the show. Ford's to me made the best building foundations myself small blocks.
My last was a 302 bored .30, Keith black 10:1 raised dome pistons. Crane 1.6 rockers on top Gt-40 heads. Align honed, decked 10/10 on crank.lunati hydraulic cam .496 int,/.512 exh. Offset change the firing order to 351w so the 302 firing order puts stress on the front of the crank, a melling hv 85 oil pump, mechanical Carter fuel pump, old school motorcraft distributor from a 79 mercury tied nto a msd 6AL with rev limiter, comp. Cams valve springs. Holley 650 cfm double pumper 65 primary jets 72 secondary jets. 1-5/8 shorty headers. K/n 13 inch air filter to clear the distributor. 10-15 hg. On vacuum,12 degrees timing.all ARP fasteners. Old school oil filled coil to set the fire. Out to 2-1/2 flow master dumped exhaust. Backed by a c-4 3 speed small bell housing 10" b&m 3000 stall converter. 3:73 motorsport 8.8 Inch posi. Homemade 304 stainless steel rear links, three core brass radiator keeps it cool w/a 14 puller electric fan and a flexlite belt driven fan to push. Operating temp with a 165 degree thermostat. Ran at the best 180 degree's. I go by vacuum. Oil pressure. Regulated fuel pressure 6.5. my plugs tell me autolites nice tan on the electrode and Index my plugs 8×8 but out of 64 tries I got the open gap on the plug on each cylinder to welcome the intake valve and 92 octane. It came alive and could turn 6500- max I got was 7000 rpm.backyard built Dremel port and polish. This was a sleeper 88' ford notchback. Old ford blue, the chrome and 8.8 yellow plug wires. Complimented my under hood appearance.

  2. The weight of that car is not going to match the high rpm of that engine. That heavy car needs low end not high end power. Nice engine but there is just no way that car is going to perform at all what you may want it to

  3. I had an '78 Mercury Monarch with the 302. For its time its was quick, but the back end was kind of light. It was fine on dry pavement but busted loose easily when it got slippery.
-a pretty decent warmup for the '88 Mustang 5.0 that I replaced it with!
