I had a Prius V, advertised to get 66 MPG. The best I ever got was 36. Once. Usually only 33. It also could not run on the battery faster than 10MPH. Any faster than than and the gas motor would kick in.

What I wonder is if the transmission is ok being pushed by the EV motor. Most automatic transmissions cannot be towed or pushed with the drive wheels on the ground — even if the transmission is in neutral — because automatics rely on an engine-driven pump to supply lubrication to the transmission to avoid damaging clutch packs and seals and other components.

Drag racing Tesla's, they get faster after the batteries warm up. Don't forget you probably don't have liquid cooled batteries like a Tesla so getting them too hot will be expensive. Li-ion don't like heat or cold. I think it's doing everything it was supposed to do. It failed because the engineering department was not staffed and funded enough for such lofty goals. But still. You're so good with difficult projects you could make a kick ass plugin hybrid out of it. Tesla is full on EV only.

The one who said that told you that it was at Volvo to make some wind tunnel test but I guess she meant testing for possible distance, often done in a similar environment. (Volvo back then had the most modern test facility for electric cars in the largest private area in the world.) They could test whatever the customer wanted. None of that demands climate control – That is if the customer doesn't order driving on winter roads, right?!
Just so people understand. Sweden's climate is the same as New York. Sure, if you need to drive a car during the winter it's necessary to use climate control of some sort, but to test a car at Volvo?! Most likely indoors. No, why would that even be an issue?!
