In this video, I rip apart my 2 million dollar concept car to discover a disaster I may not be able to fix! Wait until you see what’s inside the battery, under the dash, and why most systems aren’t operational. This is going to be extremely hard to fix but with some luck, I may be able to pull this off. Enjoy the show!

Big thanks to Sean (one of the engineers that built the Bright Idea) and my friend Nick from Nick’s Garage Builds for helping me understand how the battery can be charged safely.

  1. I'll give u $300.00 for the van. It's nothing more than a leftwing loonie van, aka how to set millions of dollars on fire. Our electrial grid could never take the load to power a fleet of these bo-doogles. In my opine they need to go with nuclear power fueled for 30-40 years safely. Electric grid is NOT the way to go!

  2. Excuse me…. its not the battery, its the electric motor, it may have corroded wires on some part of the electric motor. Depending on whether the Motor have brushes, which may be bad, either way its the motor, not the battery.

  3. 27:33

whne you pulled the CMOS battery (or when the CMOS battery died) the BIOS reset to default values. it may be trying to boot into the disk in the wrong mode (IDE, or AHCI), or depending on the age of the system it may need to have disk values manually set.

try plugging the Drive into a normal computer using an IDE to USB converter. see if it shows up like a USB stick does. if it doesnt, drive's shot.

  4. Please, when people use trial and error on electric components I feel like I'm looking at some kid who is playing with his parent's gun. (It usually doesn't end well, right?!)

  5. Chassis Ground could be a problem. Most EV Do not use it. Static buildup from the tires. Reversing the leads on an EV motor to change rotation will stall the motor. Starting An inverter controller up, It sends a small voltage through the windings to test them. Any chassis ground at the UVW Leads could cause a Motor Shake and Fail. Shorted winding lead ,to the motor case? Man you have your hands full. If that fixes it you have to give me my dream Delorean LOL. Wish I could mess with it.

  6. Change that USB video grabber back to the original one. The PC needs drivers for one specific module or it won't work. I guess that's for some kind of a rear-view camera. The screen is connected via VGA and the USB cable with an extension for the touch screen. The third cable is power, so check if there is power.

24:41 That is the control board for the screen. they used a cheap car screen that had control buttons and because it won't work without those, they decided to hide them behind the dash.
27:53 The PC can't detect the SSD anymore. Check the voltage on the SSDs connector and buy a cheap mini-IDE to USB adapter to check if the SSD still works on another PC. If so, you need to check the BIOS settings for something mismatched. If the SSD isn't detected on another PC, it is most likely dead and could only be restored by a company like drive savers.

  7. Watching your video and I can tell you
Your problem ⛽️ motor goes forward in drive and electric motor in drive goes backwards that’s why it’s breaking mounts turn the EV motor around the other way or reverse the wiring

  8. If I didn’t know better, just going by this video, I’d have to guess that a team from GM put this concept vehicle together. The only thing that’s a surprise is that the Govt didn’t invest. Go figure.

  9. Your screen issue is an easy fix

You know your cmos battery was dead, the m board or mb bat. It holds your boot up info. When it dies it defaults and the settings are floppy drive or cd drive boot first. You have to go into setup and change it to hdd it may not know the hard drive is there depends on the board but once you change and SAVE The settings and restart you should be able to get it to boot and run. Some bios even have settings that don’t show up until another setting is enabled. easy fix.

  10. Dude, I totally appreciate your positive 'over-the-top' attitude! It goes a long way and keeps viewers (like me) engaged… the classic 'glass half full guy'! I'm sure it bleeds over to all your staff, friends and all who support you throughout your builds. The Space Van is my first experience watching any of your content and I am encouraged to watch all your other builds. All this without any profanity…. God Bless you and yours! What am I working on??? Glad you asked! I come from the telecom IT world but since retiring I have taken on some fairly large and exciting lead-acid to lithium conversions. From an electric 11 passenger shuttle to various golf carts to solar solutions for tenters/trailers all using products from Bigbattery California. I'm in Ontario Canada eh but yes, I purchase and ship directly from Bigbattery for their awesome products, product perfomance, support and price point! BigBattery offers free shipping anywhere in the US so i ship to a FedEx depot in Buffalo NY and simply make the 2.5hr drive across the border to pickup my order. I totally understand the rush you get when the vehicle takes its first steps! Luckily I have never locked myself in a golf cart… yet. Great vids, amazing close-up content and seamless editing… keep up the great work my friend! Take care, Al
