By far this is the best performance upgrade I’ve done to my 2000 Integra Type R so far. Not only was performance increased, but in my case, emissions as well. That is a very rare thing with performance parts in my experience.
I was lucky enough to purchase these exhaust parts used and I saved a ton of money as a result, but if you’re considering doing something similar to your vehicle, I strongly recommend quality exhaust parts like the ones I installed in this video.
I wish I had been able to dyno the car before and after the exhaust swap. Since I saved the old exhaust, that might be a possibility in the future. However, know that I do feel a ‘seat of the pants’ difference in the car with the new exhaust. I honestly can’t say enough good things about it. The car was fun to drive before, it’s even better now.

@ericthecarguy are you interested in selling the factory exhaust manifold and heat shield?
🤣🤣🤣that sound 🤪
No it is a piggy bank! 🙂
What exhaust gives the best MPG on a 1990 hatchback 1.5L? Stock?
My cousin had a red one of those type R's back in the early 2000s
His was stupid loud though. Awesome little car!
From memory his one had Recaro race seats from the factory (his was a Honda, Not acura)
From my experience, theses after catalytical converters, just don't work Honda, and Toyota, after market catalytic, £100, original £1300, big difference, in quality p0420, light
Any tips for working on exhaust systems if you don't have a lift? Short of digging a pit in the nearest park…
Outstanding Eric.
Why not wire in a resistor and capacitor to eliminate that check engine light
Then you can go full catless
What exhaust is that? Yonaka? or just magnaflow? I have a magnaflow cat on my type R, but debating what to use as a catback exhaut
Didn't think I'd watch the whole vid
Should have just moved b pipe back n add additional pipe needed to cat?
I have the itr swap in a 94 civic coupe but damn I need the rest of the type r lol
Wish I had your skills!
That smile is priceless!
George Bush in 2003: 21:59
I grew up in the 1980's on dairy farms of Pennsylvania. Every car we owned was 10+ years old and 100k+ miles. They all had the same exhaust sounds…it's normal, no issue…as explained to me….🤣😂
Dude, you bagged a Type-R? GG Eric. You deserve one.

Love your vids Brother. Your story is inspirational. Thank You for sharing this part of your life with us..
When you weld a pipe or anything, you should do it like you tighten bolts on a tire, flange, engine cover or anything with multiple bolts. The reason being when you weld you heat the metal and expand it, and when it cools down, it shrinks. When it shrinks it pulls. So even if you have tack welded it, it still does it, just not as much. So when you start with tack welded parts aligned like this
—I I—when you weld only one one side it can be like this–I /–(lower side welded only. Thats why you get misalinged flanges. Also why stanless steel can corrode is when you heat it, you evaporate some of the chrome from the surface o the steel. You create a chrome poor area. You can see this as a color change. Chrome is what makes it stainless. So you ideally should treat the surface with acid after welding it, to clean it and make it as it was before you heated it by welding. If you cant do it, second best is to grind it till its nice and shiny. Painting it works only for as long as the paint is intact and under the car its not ideal. If paint gets sracthed or whatever, the corrosion is even worse under the paint. Thats why you see rust under paint bubble. You added one new part, the one whose direction you were wondering about. What does that do?
31:41 … ahhh the good ole days when you could rev the engine from the throttle body … long live the cable … ðŸ‘ÂÂðŸ‘ÂÂðŸ‘ÂÂ
Those 3 bolts connecting the converter to the B-pipe looked waaaaay too clean to be original.
Another awesome video sir! I LOVE the sound of that new exhaust!
It had a dc sports header before the new exhuast? Interesting
well done… beautiful sound.. way better than before… and i learnt heaps from this video and now i know how to inspect those boy racer cars' exhaust system… thank you
Love the Type R. Very clean stock setup.
You know what they say Eric?
“If you can jump it you can weld it†lol
As a fellow big time jdm fanboy this is my fav build. I love the type r! Definitely one of my number one childhood dream cars.
"Hit fuel cut"😄
Sell it to me eric! 🙃
Lovely stuff
Love it â¤ï¸ÂÂ
I miss the simplicity of these older Japanese classics.
These videos are somehow therapeutic for me.
Why not just buy a new Tanabe medallion touring catback, made for the integra? The fact it is a type r, it should be receiving the correct fitment axle back, at least. The muffler tip being that much shorter than the bumper looks awful. But props to the few replacements on the way!
