The Toyota 4Runner is a fairly common daily driver that boasts some underlying off-road capabilities. But as the off-roading trend of Overlanding continues to get more and more popular, we decided our stock 4Runner would be the right candidate for the guys of Carcass to get to work on. The biggest challenge behind the 4Runner Overlander was to turn it from a factory stock SUV to a heavy-duty, jack-of-all-trades, on-road & off-road beast that is just as good performing through the dirt as it is driving down the highway.

  1. Overall, this is a great build. What's the reason behind not installing 6-piston calipers on the front brakes? The increase in weight is considerable. Also, throttle control devices that take voltage from the accelerator pedal circuit tend to cause problems over time because the voltages in that circuit are so low that if the device draws a little too much power, the vehicle won't respond properly, if at all. There are a number of videos on YT documenting this unfortunate phenomenon. Banks makes a device that draws voltage from the OBD-II port instead which won't compromise the performance of the accelerator circuit. Thanks for posting this video.

  2. Excellent! Made in the USA #1..Please keep jobs from here going,. World are waiting from goods and Ideas from the land of the US of A. Thank you! ( Keep the CopyCat China away from us!)

  3. Not underpowered? These things are severely underpowered, it needs a V8. Should have built a Lexus GX 460. They are about the same price as well.

  4. That front lift does not increase travel. It pushes your control arms down so the vehicle rises up. Doing this sctual reduces droop, but you still have the same range so it will increase the up. You have the same travel range, uou have just moved it off center. Even if your Icons are "extended travel" it isn't s true long travel set up.

  5. I was visiting friends in the Yucatan area of Mexico last week. Clicking channels on the tv I found this exact show being played, except it was dubbed into Spanish. Very funny watching you guys talk in Spanish. lol.

  6. in the state?of n.c. where i live any driving lights that were not factory installed are illegal for on highway use.what your doing makes your high beam lights illegal for on road use and will keep the vehicle from?passing inspection.

  7. Did the little bump you got from the intake and exhaust offset the weight added to the truck? How does it feel now vs before the modifications? How about gas mileage?

Thanks so much for the great content as always!

  8. I thought the Flowmaster Flow FX muffler was a bit droney, so I went with their 50 Series Delta Flow. That has a nice deep tone when you're cruising but doesn't get to ricer-ey when you give it some gas. I'll be having the shop that installed it for me replace all the piping down stream of the muffler with either 3" or 3.5" tubing this spring to deepen the sound even more.

  9. Power Stop brakes are a great value upgrade. I do a bit of towing and I do not experience brake fade much. Major con is they made the brake pedal feel soft compared to OEM.

  10. Any tire size that isn't stock will rub. Especially under articulation

Using drilled and slotted rotors is a huge L when offroading. Mud will wear those out.

No panhard bar relocation. Big L for handling

Black Rhino wheels are hard to install tires on. Just by hand. But their valve stems are not as recessed as they should be

Wild choice for a roof rack when so many no-drill options exist

The 1gr fe sounds awful, no exhaust helps it do anything but drone.

I like the rear tire carrier. That's it
