Engine Power embarks on a new project for SCCA’s inaugural SPEC Mustang class. We’ll take a 2008 Mustang GT and begin getting it ready for this entry level, but competitive class. After we finish our upgrades, we head to a Summit Racing Event and put it to the test.

  1. I have a 2006 Mustang GT, all bolt ons (minus underdrive pulleys and shorty headers), full suspension, full performance synthetics and tune, EBC dimpled/slotted rotors with blue stuff. The car makes 368hp at the crank, 376hp with Octane Booste. The car is extremely fun to drive and you are so connected to it. It's very analog but so solid it gives you confidence in the corners. Such a well balanced car. These old 3 valves get a bit of hate, but they are literally bulletproof.

  2. Maybe I don't know the rules for the class, but "usually" in SCCA racing, there is a safety cage, not just a rear roll bar. So no halo or door bars or dash bar? Just wondering… Looks like a fun build and class to race in.

  3. Personally the more I learned about motor oils the more I started experimenting on my motor oil mixes… Right now I use a mix of Panzoil Platinum High Mileage Full Synthetic & Penzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic MIX. I found put they have a 0w-30 so ill be mixing that in there just to see what the difference in performance is.

  4. I have a 3v from a 2008 GT going in my 1952 Ford F1 pickup…also picked up a Magnuson MP112 supercharger for $650 a few years ago specifically for the s197. Should be around 425rwhp when done. Can’t wait!

  5. When did the intake change. Didn’t see that mod. From the beginning it looked like a boss style intake. Then wrong 34:41 showed a stock 4.6L intake manifold. Didn’t see that change through the video. As I watched it 27 times looking for the switcheroo.
