Engine Power embarks on a new project for SCCA’s inaugural SPEC Mustang class. We’ll take a 2008 Mustang GT and begin getting it ready for this entry level, but competitive class. After we finish our upgrades, we head to a Summit Racing Event and put it to the test.

That seat is janky. Look how much it moves around while they're on the dyno.
Awesome car
Lame. This could have been much cooler.
stock its supposed to make 300 hp. so not sure what to make of this video….
It’s still a shitty mustang
best way to make a rustang a weekend racer is to put a chevy motor in it!!!!! Done!!
If anybody needs a pen ask Pat
That’s a 281 CI motor!!!
Ford is always on point!!!
please do not promote K&N filter
Will it spin out into a ditch after a cars n coffee tho
244 stock makes me feel so much better about my Accord Sport 2.0T
I would have dumped in at least a 5w-30 oil.
I have a 2006 Mustang GT, all bolt ons (minus underdrive pulleys and shorty headers), full suspension, full performance synthetics and tune, EBC dimpled/slotted rotors with blue stuff. The car makes 368hp at the crank, 376hp with Octane Booste. The car is extremely fun to drive and you are so connected to it. It's very analog but so solid it gives you confidence in the corners. Such a well balanced car. These old 3 valves get a bit of hate, but they are literally bulletproof.
Maybe I don't know the rules for the class, but "usually" in SCCA racing, there is a safety cage, not just a rear roll bar. So no halo or door bars or dash bar? Just wondering… Looks like a fun build and class to race in.
I'm not a Ford guy, but damn ,you ruined its pretty
5W-20 on a road racer? No thanks!
13 hp from a full exhaust, tune and intake 😂😂😂
Personally the more I learned about motor oils the more I started experimenting on my motor oil mixes… Right now I use a mix of Panzoil Platinum High Mileage Full Synthetic & Penzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic MIX. I found put they have a 0w-30 so ill be mixing that in there just to see what the difference in performance is.
Put a cherry bomb exhaust or flow masters….sound better and bit hp tq
There sway bars.. anti-roll bars are completely different!
Those race seats are trash. Get some comfortable Fixed back Seats with a slider & low seat mounts.
It needs a coyote and boost.
I have a 3v from a 2008 GT going in my 1952 Ford F1 pickup…also picked up a Magnuson MP112 supercharger for $650 a few years ago specifically for the s197. Should be around 425rwhp when done. Can’t wait!
I wish you would have tested before the tune then after.
Too AWESOME how capable these beautiful machines are🔥💯🫡
this was filmed like those mechanic shows my dad watched in the 2010s, very nostalgic lol
Pat 'The Pen' Topolinski😊
The measurement is FOOT pounds! Pound-feet is for marketing and out of touch engineers to sound stupid
Coming to a crowd near you!
Those racing stripes add 50 hp
Been driving my 05 GT from new. Has 90k on it. Car still runs strong with upgrades like you guys did but did that 19 years ago
If you actually knew how the tune you can get more power out of that engine
I gotta ask, did you all mate the breaks to the rotors? You didnt show that being done so ya I'm a bit concerned..
Wait a minute, you were talking about seats not boots! You said a boot. What?
What springs did you use?
That Rollbar is a clean setup.
What a pitiful "upgrade" for a weekend track car….
Tony Angelo got 600+ horsepower out of that same motor in his sleeper Lincoln Mark VIII. His motor is built and turbocharged
anyone with more than 2 pens in their pocket is suspect
over rated– solid improvement for 10hp ??
Y'all should do a Ford 4.6 to 5.3 modular stroker motor build id love to see that
The interaction with the audience feels so personal.
When did the intake change. Didn’t see that mod. From the beginning it looked like a boss style intake. Then wrong 34:41 showed a stock 4.6L intake manifold. Didn’t see that change through the video. As I watched it 27 times looking for the switcheroo.
am a ford guy but a roll cage for 289 rwhp car wtf ! 😂😂
at least give it 150 shot or on3 turbo kit
Coulda took a nap while this thing reached redline
A 3v 😂😂. You guys chose one of the worst mustangs to "mod"
my favorite part was them justifying the whole 5hp gain from a $2000 package by saying "you dont need 500whp"
With these mods, your 3v will finally hit break into the 3 digit mark on the dyno
