Our 460 Big Block Ford is back for its final iteration, where we upgrade it with a weight saving, better flowing induction. We’re looking to up the naturally aspirated horsepower before this beast finds its new home. As always, we’ll test our improvement on the Engine Dyno.

Great job the two of you always do! I’ve watched your channel for years now and it’s always a learning experience. Now I do have a question. What spark plug gap do you guys use when you’re using a MSD ignition for your dynos?
I miss you guys on TV, you’re both so knowledgeable and I learn a lot at my old age with the things you guys do on motors.
Have you built a 5.4 Ford Modular? If so please guide me to it. I need to redo my 2000 F-150 2-valve and would like to make some more Horsepower.
Keep up the great work you both do.

Ford never had a big block.
I love how you guys stuck with this motor and did different configurations. Using less in the end it may be more? Or maybe not here's a crazy idea hook a hydrogen cell that goes to a bus to the motor hook and water meth injection and put in a little bit of nitrous what could happen with the trifecta fuels?
Can we stick that motor in my Crown Vic?
Kind of figured 32ish would have been about it on timing being such a big bore long stroke as most aluminum headed SBC's I've done stop at about 36 at around 9.5ish CR. Maybe that huge freaking cam duration on the exhaust and setting it at 105.5 degrees played a part in it though?
Its amazing to me that with a little love and modern tech, how much an old farm truck motor can make. God i love 460s.
My dad had an upper and lower roller 460 from a 77 Lincoln. I've never ever seen one like it again.
I love how the closed captioning picks up the engine noise as music and applause that makes me happy 😁
Gotta say Pat and Frankie our my favorites. No fake cheesy banter. They work great together and I agree with others, cool to see Frankie continue grow as an engine builder along side Pat. This was a fun build. But even I am a ford guy, I don’t care what they are building, just like watching them make big power 😂.
Random dumb question! How did you get the water pump bypass hose on after the intake was installed? I'm a 460 fan and know that must have been tough!
Would be so much better without the annoying music.
Watching you two torque down those heads, look like a couple of detectives with their sleeves rolled up working over a suspect in a dark room.😂
we do in sweden 37* before high end goood power
#papapatrules
Wow
And probably will get 24 mpg on pump gas. 👍
EFI is the Devil! 😈
There’s more power on the table with a better cam.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Frankie remove a head without dropping it or almost dropping it.
They say that the exhaust port on a late eighties Ford 460 flows about the same as the one on the 5.0 Mustang. I think they max out around 110 cfm. No wonder the later built 460 can’t get out of its own way.
Would VERY interested if the cost of these parts were included. And even though in a great shop, how many hours. These determine whether or not many of us will do similar tuneups and upgrades. An approach of "lets see what happens if we put really expensive parts in." is interesting but not useful.
