We got scammed… – Car Mod Pros Portal

We got scammed by a local used car dealership. After contacting them and notifying them, they were not willing to help us at all. 1 month later, they went out of business.

Thankfully our friends at straight six dismantlers, https://www.bmwforparts.com/, had a lower mileage S55 engine and the team swapped it in! Our winner Jagger Bains came out and picked up the car and it’s driving flawlessly!

Do you guys want to see us tear down the S55 to see what was wrong with it? If so, LIKE this video and comment below!

  1. please dont give away a new bimmer again, you guys are able to swap the engine having the money, shop, tools and Quinn , a regular john doe wont be able to afford that shit. this is a comment from my broke ass point of view thought. love the channel and love what you guys do.

  2. I have the same story about buying my 335is used from a dealer. Misfired day after it had such a mess of non kosher coils and plugs. Eventually it locked up because it was just a spun bearing got a replacement engine with new bearings I had the professionals do at my house! And new oem turbos. Cars running great! I drove it 40miles in the Texas 108 temp and it’s clean no codes rn

  3. S55? You calibrated the injectors when you swapped them right? The injectors on these engines have super wide trim margins which tends to make them fire lean or rich especially at high RPMs which has a tendency to make the car go into limp mode and shut off the offending cylinder to minimize damage.

The other thing is the harness and the in line capacitors going to your ignition coil…if anything is messed up with those your new engine will eventually start misfiring on the same cylinder.

…I've been through the ringer with turbo BMWs and their electrical gremlins so if these aren't useful to you maybe it will help someone else having similar issues.

  4. I had a similar issue with my Supra. it was ALL in the tune. Zero actual engine problems.

The bad tune would also fix itself when I'd reflash the tune. After a few days of hard driving the issue would come back until I re-flashed the tune.

  5. All these automobile manufacturers these days are nothing but planned Obsolescence theives. They make complicated beautiful garbage. And our government officials do nothing to make these gangsters responsible for fixing problems these they know they have.

  6. Been driving BMW cars since 1971. Currently I have a Crimson Red 2012 135i MSport with six-speed manual. Also own a '72 2002tii and a '91 318is. Great for the roads in Northern California! Love all three of these cars for different reasons, but straight-line speed isn't on the list. 😉
