This Twin Turbo Genesis G90 ran through the auction for over a month. The selling dealer claimed it had a bad engine problem, and it needed an entire new engine. I took a gamble at a 50% discount and got super lucky…

That's got a pretty nasty valve tap .
Intake valve clean and an oil change , couldn't hurt..
Crows foot.
It's not Lexus's it's Lexi, just ask Alan Partridge
All that dust from the foam entering the intake manifold cannot be good.
I really enjoy watching all his videos because he is so knowledgeable and is able to troubleshoot remarkably, and can also do the work, which is almost in a class of its own
Well, done. I have numerous hand tools that are "modified" for certain applications. Ground down or heated and bent and they stay in their own spots in by rollaway toolbox. I always take a few pictures before tackling any intensive teardowns. The 3.3 V6 is a great motor, I had one in a 2006 Sonata and I traded with 255K miles on my current 2014 Genesis 3.8 V6 that has 223,500 miles on it…great car.
So what did you actually pay for it at the auction?
Could be running low from high cholesterol 😂😂
Good stuff as always. Wouldn't a ratcheting wrench work best on that sensor though?
7:49 … a lil' dusty in here …
Genesis owner here . Great car if you want the luxury features. Big weakness is very limited dealer coverage. Vast areas of the U.S. have no Genesis dealer. Bizarrely Kia or Hyundai (Genesis is owned by Hyundai) won't do even minor warranty work even if the nearest Genesis dealer is hundreds of miles away. Out of warranty ,just hope the Hyundai dealer will help – or diy like Sam. No sign of any rapid expansion of the Genesis dealership so if you buy new, just get a high spec Hyundai – same components without the spotty dealer coverage issue.
What a stupid idea to put that in there, love or hate American engines at least they are changeable in 10 min
What sucks for us average joe's is that you fixed in 5 to 10 minutes, but we'll need to go to a mechanic who will bill us for 4 hours, at $100 per 4:00
Just use a fine tooth ratcheting wrench.
Thats what my family's 2004 ford taurus was doing
Hyundai/Kias don't hold up well over time. Problems like this develop all the time. My mechanic does not recommend them to anyone as he calls them mechanic's cars. They constantly have problems and the more electronics you have, the more problems you have. He bought a used one with a bunch of problems to fix up so he could learn a lot from all the trouble spots that he fixes all the time. His recommendation for a luxury car is not even a luxury car – Mazda. They don't need many repairs and last a lot longer than these Korean cars. With the Mazda interior and ride, they are competing as a budget Lexus/Genesis/Audi competitor. A friend of mine who last had an Audi with a blown engine, bought the Mazda and loves it saying it is just as nice and more reliable.
The engine has a loud knocking / ticking noise. Doesn't sound good. The video was good. Thanks for sharing the process.
I have a 2015 Hyundai sonata Limited what's 155,000 mi and it's still running fine the leak down test is great each cylinder puts out good compression
Is a dealer online that sells Hyundai parts less expensive online Hyundai in Genesis
How dealer cannot make the right diagnostic…Wow, Never buy huyndhai….
Tape up them intake ports ffs
dumb engineering
Genesis is great. Had a GV80.
Settle down Francis… it’s just a Hyundai.
Maybe you’ve mentioned in a previous video but what auto ratchet are you using?
Its almost like engines are over engineered to force you into the dealership.
I used to be a technician at Kia. I just recently started being a technician at Acura and man I absolutely love working on Honda’s and Acura’s
I have a lot more respect for mechanics after watching these videos. It appears these cars are not made to be easily fixed.
Are Genisis as Shite as rest of Hyundai Engines?
Imagine owning the car for 7 years and everything under the manifold is dry
Enjoy replacing everything, hoses, wiring harness and many plastic garbage parts
I don't understand, while you are there, why not service all injectors and change spark plugs, gaskets, and make this car ride freely for another 60k without issues? Would cost you extra couple hundreds but you are still making a lot more on this car.
Nice Score!
How about using a 24mm ratcheting box wrench?
Long term quality on these is crap.
Are there digital gages to look for actual oil pressure in the menu?
