Just because you get a call from a number that looks official, doesn’t necessarily mean that it is! Scammers are using VOIP software to spoof their numbers. I’ll show you how, and then get a little revenge 🙂

  1. A couple of weeks ago I received a phone call from what looked like a legitimate number. My phone showed that it was "suspected spam", I thought I'd answer it because I didn't know if it was a legit call or not. All the call was is a recorded message claiming to be from a telco I've never dealt with in my life. I just hung up after I knew it was a scam and blocked the number.

  2. Best way to not get scammer ads it's to not go on dodgy websites. What dark corner of the internet are y'all looking at to get these ads?

  3. Spam and scam calling has gotten so out of hand that I just got an app that will block any call that isn't in my contacts. I'm pretty sure these features are baked into android and ios now, but I've had this app since before those were native features so I just keep using it. Plus there's a bunch of other handy macros I use it for.

If the call is legit, they can leave a voice-mail or send a text, or if it's a job recruiter calling me, they can send me an email. I'm done taking any phone calls from anyone that isn't my mom dad grandma sister girlfriend or manager.

Otherwise the call doesn't even pop up on my screen at all. I'll have no idea I missed a call from an unknown number unless they leave me a voice mail or I go look at my call history.

Obviously this solution doesnt work for everyone but it does for me. I have no reason to take calls from unknown numbers.

  4. You should have spoofed their own call number! That would have been hilarious for them to block the number people have to call to call them. Depending on the VoIP software, it actually is possible to screw up their ability to receive calls if they block their own connecting number.
It does not always work but it is possible depending on the exact software they are using or a couple different softwares but what version they're on.

  5. Hi pleasant, I love your videos
They really inspired me to start doing this by myself and try to stop scammers from hurting good people (in a smaller level ofc just on instagram for now) I hope you see this
    Keep doing this ❤

  6. I hate to say it because financial freedom is everyones right, but this is what happens when to many companies outsource call centers. It becomes harder and harder for anyone to know if its real or not.

  7. Please. As for me as soon as I hear an EAST Indian voice I KNOW its a scam! When will people wake up to this fact. I don't care what number shows up.If it is an EAST INDIAN voice it is a scam!

  8. Thank you for all you do to help the elderly with scams. My mom constantly is coming to me about scams and calls she gets about sus activity on her accounts. With your help and videos i helped prevent a few attempts to get her info.
Easiest way to spot a scam is to get to the bottom and ask how many gift cards you want? No real business will take itunes gift cards and google gift cards as payment for a service.
