Paul Cangialosi stopped by the shop to help me rebuild the T-5 for my Fairmont Project. Paul has been building these transmissions for more than 30 years. He also sells the rebuild kits for these builds on his website 5Speeds.com. Not to mention he literally wrote the book on rebuilding these transmissions. Definitely the right man for the job.

There’s a ton of links I need to trow at you so I’m going to keep this part of the description short.

  1. At 1:05:30 he said make sure the pin is in the middle. On my AMC T5 for my Jeep CJ seven there is no way that that thing will go together if that pin is dead center in the middle you have to offset the forks towards the front of the transmission or they will not lineup. You can see when he tried to set it n his wold to line up either. He had to move off center. Thats why the camera cut scene.

  2. Good day gentlemen. Hope everything is well with you. I have a question. My son bought a t 5 Mustang Gt 1986 at a junkyard.hard to put in gears. Well opened the transmission and the interlock plate is broken in two pieces everything else in good condition. Could you please help me get a interlock plate for my son Transmition.im willing to pay for the part and any other cost involved, love your info highly appreciated. My email Rayvz1@ att.net thank you

  3. That. Was. IMPRESSIVE!!!
I've built my share of T-5's in my day… But I really learned something here!
The previous episode when you introduced the "Man who WROTE the Book" as who would be rebuilding the Trans….
    Mind Blown! 😲👍👍

  4. @ 26:00…. Maybe find a piece of thick wall PVC pipe with a similar diameter to the bearing to help knock it down the Counter Shaft so you don't have to use a punch. Just a thought. I have not tried it yet but I am going to try it when I go to put my T5 back together. Thank you guys for making these very helpful and informative videos.

  5. You are never going to win an Oscar for camera work for YouTube instructional videos , but this is worthy of nomination, great job to everyone – this is brilliant!

  6. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  7. Ohio weather?! Eric what up from Cleveland dawg 👊😎

  8. Excellent video content! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you considered – Tarbbatigan Cars Rehabilitation Tip (should be on google have a look)? It is a great one of a kind product for learning how to repair your car the easy way minus the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my friend got cool success with it.

  9. I know it's a old video but, what about a video about setting up the bell housing/pilot bearing correctly so you don't toast the "new" 15 input shaft roller bearings?

  10. Is it just me , or when you make the wrong comparisons while doing “anything”, makes it all of a sudden gay as hell to continue watching?

  11. I'm inspecting and rebuilding one now. Paul is the Guru of transmissions hands down. His videos on 5speed.com are great to learn from. He is also very meticulous on his builds and I like that.

  12. 12:40
Am I the only one who has heard of a role pin punch?
Has a dimple in the center of the flat to keep the file pin centered.
    Anyone….
    Anyone….
    Beuller…..

  13. when putting on your bearings, instead of pressing them on or hitting them with a punch,(they should only have about .0005-.001 press fit) heat them in your oven at about 175- 200 degrees for about 5-10 minutes and they will slide on with no problem, that's how we put them on, (I work in a electrical motor shop we use an induction heater to heat the bearings)
