5. I still can’t get into this type of competition. I’m a fan of racing, not navigating. Build an actual course and it would be cool. But if you have to figure out where to go, it just ruins it for me. Maze running, like navigating, doesn’t interest me at all.

30. Meh, boat's brand new to you, no test time, one of THE fastest times in qualifying – and overall – and you spun off going for it. Sure, you could have pussy-footed it, but not only would that be unlikely to get into the run-offs, but those things need to be DRIVEN to work properly. Just think of clipping a bank as being like spinning a tyre, or bogging down in the 60' – just something to work around the next time.

    You learned a lot, got even more respect, no-one and nothing is hurt or damaged – take a bit of a time-out and think things over, maybe talk to the chaps you bought it from about possible tweaks for your driving style, and come back even faster and stronger.

    I'd describe it as "loss, win, win, win" 👍😎
