As attacks against Asians and Asian-Americans have risen during the pandemic, one New York public artist is using her craft to send a message of solidarity. NBC News’ Isa Gutierrez spoke to artist Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya about how her own experiences have shaped her work and what she hopes to accomplish with her project.

Beautiful art projects! Thanks. I love art projects as much as I can do nowadays. I studied fine arts in college. It’s been part of my life as well. Art is like therapy nowadays in this pandemic. Yup!
People who hate Asians Are racist.. and people are not being nice to Asians Even an asian got bullied by 13 year old kids in front of a live stream. And Those people don’t even have respect to one to another. We are human beings. Respect their Looks and their Sense of fashion. And We should be nice to one to another stop being racist whoever u are.. respect Asians like me.. You should respect them. And whoever said Asians are bad human beings. Don’t listen to them. They are making u racist. And if you think I’m wrong your not kind to one to another and we are suppose to be kind human beings. And Don’t even Complain about each persons skin color.. If u complain about their fashion sense you are not being nice to an asian… And as an asian it really heart breaking for people being racist and I’m not happy about it the fact that people are being rude to Asians mostly multiple women.. And that hurts a lot and I know I’m just a kid but people doing this isn’t right.

We also have to discuss the many racist Asians in our Asian community. And the promotion of Asians to hate other minority groups in this country. There is a reason many people don't care much about anti-Asian hate is that a lot of Asians show hate and ethnocentrism against other Asians as well. Filipinos hate Koreans, Chinese hate Japanese, Malaysians hate Chinese. Many Asians teach their community to look down on Black Americans and worship white people because of the long century-old status quo of white supremacy.
NBC, why did you deceptively edit out the knife in that 16 year old's hand to make it look like a white cop shot an unarmed black girl? Why would you do that? How psychopathic is that?
