Earlier today Realme unveiled its 240W charging system, the first in the smartphone industry to hit that level of power. Now the company has confirmed which phone will be the first to use it – the Realme GT Neo 5.

The phone itself is still under wraps, but multiple leaks have given us a good idea of what to expect. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 for starters. Although there is talk of another GT Neo 5 with 150W charging that will use the Dimensity 8200 instead.

Anyway, the phone will feature a 50MP main camera with OIS (IMX890 sensor), an 8MP ultra wide, 2MP helper and a 16MP selfie cam. The display should measure 6.7” in size with “1.5K” resolution (1,240 x 2,772px) and 144Hz refresh rate, plus high frequency PWM dimming (2,160Hz).

The phone will also have no less than 13 temperature sensors that will monitor the charging process and shut things down if the heat goes over the expected levels. Also, Realme claims that the battery will retain 80% of its initial capacity after 1,600 charge cycles.

Realme already revealed the charger that will be supplying the 240W of power. It supports both 20V/12A and 10V/24A operation and is surprisingly tiny – just 5% larger than the previous 150W adapter, which was used in the phone’s predecessor, the Realme GT Neo3 (150W).

The GT Neo 3 with 150W charging has a 4,500mAh battery and in our tests it reached 100% charge in just 16 minutes. There’s no word on the GT Neo 5 battery capacity or how long a full charge will take.

The Realme GT Neo 5 with 240W charging will be unveiled next month.
