Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a powerful device that is as beautiful as it is functional, but not without a caveat or two. Can this folding smartphone replace your need to carry both a phone and a tablet? Can you do many of the things that you’d normally do with a laptop with this $1800 phone? What about those cameras? Last year’s Z Fold 3 received complaints for selling at a flagship price with less than flagship photography. Tshaka walks you through all you need to know about the Z Fold 4, including camera and video samples and comparisons to the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

  1. I was looking forward to LG's Rolling screen which they had in development. It's a shame that the company who's responsible for all the great stuff on phones is no more. Samsung should look into that rolling phone.

  2. Thanks for sharing. I'm loving the Fold 4 but I'm still on the fence about keeping it. This phone is shorter and while holding it with my left hand my index finger constantly hits or rubs against the camera array. Samsung should have keep the phone tall like it was on the 3 if they were going to enlarge the camera array.

One other major gripe I have about the 4 is how much thicker the side rails are than the 3. The Fold 4 feels much more solid and well built but even with a slimmer hinge the phone feels chunkier in the hand than the Fold 3. Then if you put a case on it the phone is going to feel even bulkier.

  3. Waiting for a competitor to come out in western markets that also has an IPX rating for a fold device. Samsung is good, but I want to see designs pushed further.
