I had recently done a bunch of suspension work and put new tires on my Acura Vigor. Because of that, I decided to make this video about alignments. I get a lot of questions about when to align a vehicle, especially with my strut replacement videos. I hope this video address those questions.
Remember, vibrations aren’t normally caused by issues with your alignment. If your vehicle pulls to one side, or you have issues with tire wear, then you likely have an alignment issue. Also remember there can be no play in the suspension when doing an alignment. So if you have loose suspension parts, address those before you do an alignment. If your vehicle has been in a collision, no matter how minor, you might want to have your alignment checked. Lastly, if you’re getting new tires, get an alignment to go with them. It’s your best investment, might as well protect it.
Thanks for watching!

I got a 24 year old off road Subaru project beater always breaking axles or other stuff after a lot of aggressive off-roading so an alignment is always a meh lmao
This is a great vid man, thanks for putting the time in to get it up. Have to replace the Upper Control Arm on my 2011 Crown Vic P7B so going to have to get the alignment tweaked afterwards.
I prefer caster to be equal on both sides, two reasons for this:
a) If someone falls asleep at the wheel or is drinking and driving, there is a greater probability they will go into the ditch instead of
into oncoming traffic.
b) If you overtake on a two way road, (driving in oncoming lane on a long, clear straightaway) it can be difficult to keep the car from
going into the left hand ditch when the right hand caster is reduced.
My car pulls to the right so bad after replacing the lower control arm . these two parts were bad but ididnt have a problem with it until the parts were replaced

Thank you for the film, very informative. Those adjusting bolts, are they same for every car, or they
can be at different locations? How to find them? When I changed outer tie rods I noticed that the #/s
of turns for the driver and passenger sides are slightly different (like on passenger side I counted
20, while on the driver it was only 18-1/2 turns). When I put new ones I did like 20 and 19 turns
respectively. But probably I could do both same (19 or 20) and then after the alignment everything
would be perfectly symmetric. If you just replace the knuckle on one side, do you need to do
alignment?
4:50 what if the car fall down?
If your truck tracks straight & there are no problems do you need an alignment just because you are getting larger tires?
Wasted 99.99 on alignment, should have watched this video first.
Or is it my ball joints? I did recently do a manual swap and use a pickle fork to get the ball joint loose
Hey have a question I have a wobble on my car when I'm accelerating at low speeds I don't see the steering wheel shake but can feel it through the steering wheel. Do I need alignment?
Hey Eric my car, a 71 VW Fastback, has a caster pre-set from the factory and isn’t adjustable. Having said that the car is scary at freeway speeds of 70mph and above. The steering just feels light and unsafe. The car is slightly lowered up front, maybe an 1â€ÂÂ+ but not much more. I threw 200lbs of sand in the trunk up front and feel it might have been a little better but I want to lose the sand!! Thanks for your help man!!
If you have a car or truck that you want to last… get an alignment…they don’t cost much..
I just had one. Today… my Ford Raptor and they cannot zero it in.. three different shops.. all same result… I don’t feel anything,, but it’s off…a little,, The camber is 1.4 degrees negative off… so. I ordered all new tie-rod ends MOOG and camburg upper control arms,,, What else can it be?
Hey, a few questions: I swapped wheels the other day and at 8:22 where you're holding your hand, I twisted that part on my car back and forth a few times, is that normal? and 2) doing that, will it affect the alignment? Thx.
does positive or negative toe cause increased tire wear on the inside tread? specifically only on driver side front tire?
DO NOT LET GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL TO CHECK ALIGNMENT!!!!! All roads have a crest or arch to them for water run off. The best way to check the tracking of your car is to put 2 fingers at 12 o'clock on the steering wheel. You should be able to maintain a straight track with minimal pressure.
So where do you recommend lifting/supporting a unibody vehicle then if the pinch welds are all jacked up? Yes I'm mostly asking about the rear, but the front would be good knowledge too. In front i lift from center tow hook just to the side of the front engine mount. It flexes the subframe quite a bit though, not sure how I feel about it.
Hi Eric,
I have a 1997 Honda Prelude, Las Vegas.
I have a lifetime alignment at FireStone.
I have also tried paying for an alignment with a reputable shop called "Samurai Motors" in Las Vegas.
The Toes are greened out as close to or at 0.0 degrees
Caster is all even (Radius Rod Bushings Brand New)
However, my steering wheel and car tends to pull at an 11 o'clock angle everytime i let go of the steering wheel, whether the car is slow, or whether im on the freeway going fast. It pulls left wherever I am.
Camber: I am lowered on function form Type 1 coilovers. I have left the camber natural on moog control arms. I doubt this will affect pull…
I have no uneven tirewear whatsoever. And i have rotate all 4 tires in different patterns just to check.
I have also tried stock rims with different tires.
I have also tried civic si rims with different tires.
PSI 35 all around.
Still Pulls left….
Additionally, the steering wheel feels lighter rotating to the left.
While it feels a little bit heavier rotating to the right.
Moog Upper Control Arms
Moog Tie Rods
Moog Sway Bar Links
Have not changed Lower Control Arms
Have not touched wheel hubs (although its intact and no play)
New Brake + Rotors (back in 2019)
What is your opinion?
Thanks man!
If im missing hub cap on one side but not the other will that affect alignment? Cuz based on the video it looks like that machine goes on the rim?
Another thing is that because the road is curved as Eric mentioned, your car will naturally and subtly pull away from the center of the road. That’s why you hear people get alignments done and the car still slightly pulls to one side. Now if the pull is severe, that’s when the car needs the alignment
Why my truck still pull to right side after alignment
Missing the two persons in the front seats, need 2x70kg ballast!
My wife says I have a alignment problem
Thanks Eric. That is an excellent video and for the first time ever I now understand how alignments work! Well done!
Thanks much!
I thought I knew about wheel alignment, but I learnt so much from this. A fantastic tutorial on how things REALLY work. Thank you
Can I do an alignment myself ?
hai..eric ..you should wear wihte glove..when you talking about the toe..bcouse your shirt is balck too..
Thumbs down for not teaching me how to do the alignment myself.
I need an alignment ! OFF TO THE CHIROPRACTOR!
Thank you

Hi, Eric , very informative.. team bhp site brought me here.. it's a car enthusiast site..
I liked the video I drive an Si what about ware only on the outside front tires everything else is good do I need an alignment?
I had an accident and idk what parts i need. How can I easily know what i need to replace without a mechanic trying to get me broke. (I’m new at this)
Would you still recommend a four-wheel alignment if you're only working in the rear? (like if converting drums to discs?)
Hey Eric, I just replaced my hub assembly, rotors, lower ball joints and outer tie rods on my 92 Accord. Your videos helped tremendously!! I haven't replaced upper ball joint yet but will be doing so soon. After completing my replacement project the camber is way off. I know I need an alignment. The top of the front tires are pointing in too much. Will this self fix when I replace the upper controlarms and ball joint? Thanks!!

I wish you could explain feather more ðŸ™ÂÂ
while driving down the road and you take you hands off the steering wheel and you notice that the steering wheel moves slightly left and right is that an alignment issue anyone.
I got an alignment and my steering wheel isn't straight how come
I got an alignment and still driftinh
Whenever i drive it feels like the car vibrates on the front right side, but i changed out everything in the suspension, no tears in the boots. Not movement when pulling up and down on the tire and moving left and right. Could a wheel alignment help with that ?
Is it possible to be hit head on by another car in the left front wheel and there be no damage to the suspension system? Even though the two front wheels and tires were replaced (as well as all the broken stuff like headlamps, bumper…)
Many times times the alignment doesn't fix the drifting nor non centered steering wheel.
You have such an extensive knowledge sir. Good work
