No, painting your brake calipers will not give you extra horsepower, but they might make you feel faster.

This is a short video about painting brake calipers. There are many ways you can approach this process, this is just one of them, and in my opinion, one of the easiest and most accurate if you’re able to wield a small paint brush.

  1. Good to see your video pop up. You are missed as you have become a part of daily/weekly life for some people over the last decade. Be well.

  2. I'm glad you posted a new video Eric and I hope you have a decent shop or at least a temporary shop to do your business, your hobby/craft and I hope you're doing well in general.

  3. hmmm, the question is, if you smooth off the rough casting surface then paint the calipers gloss will they be more slippery though the air or would they be better smoothed off and polished because the lack of paint will make the vehicle lighter, while we are there, you have front brakes, would ditching the extra weight of a rear caliper set and lines save more weight?

one of the new systems i been using over here is bluetooth braking, you get a sender unit (the master) and the four calipers are small hydraulic bluetooth receivers, this gives you ultimate control on the fly over brake balance and needs no brake pipe fabrication

  4. You definitely get way better finish painting new calipers. Though a lot of work, I have used bondo on old and new calipers and sanded to get a nice flat finish on the surfaces you can see. If you have to use old rusty calipers. It also helps to plasticize the rust first. Turns the rust all black and gives a good surface for paint. Bondo first and then plasticize the rust to get the best result. Use Never Seize on the neck of the bleeding nipple threads and brake line threads so you never have to change the caliper again. Don't never seize the entire threads. You don't want it contaminating the brake fluid. Of 40 years with this method It's never contaminated the brake fluid. Never had to change a caliper a second time. Holds up well to car washes.

  5. Sure are a lot of armchair quarterbacks in this comment section. So experts. Much nitpicking. Wow. :p

Eric, it's just plain good to see you today, I was wondering how you were doing yesterday afternoon, and here you are with two vids! Hope you are doing well, and thanks for what you do sir!

  8. That awkward zone between a Short because Eric can't speak fast enough, and a 10 minute video, because he no longer cares about our birthdays. Hmph.

    Whatever.

    Welcome back, Eric!
