  1. Spending a near-lifetime sentence in prison for something that one did not commit: It happens—disproportionately—far too often to blacks in this country, particularly men. This man was lucky that taxpayers will foot the multimillion bill for his wrongful imprisonment, because other victims were only given half-hearted apologies, if even that, and not a penny; state laws prohibit monetary compensation to victims of wrongful imprisonment in some states. Prisons have become population-control mechanisms for containing underserved communities.

  2. This happened to guy I know with a different outcome. The police officer the d.a. and the judge were MURDERED. Justice served property. Forgot their names. But all 3 conspired and we're sentenced to death.
