Yeah I know I am commenting on a rather old video, But while these are not the most interesting I really appreciate how you do show us what the planning of the more technical aspects of this build look like. shows that you are not just winging it and or following someone else's build guide. They also provide a good example of what proper planning should be and can accomplish. You cannot uncut something, but you can always measure again.

  2. Adding to the comments people have said , angle the frame out and down at the same time. In the front and back . It will net you more room and be able to fit your seats down further and then you can stitch weld the unibody to the frame at your lower rocker..

  3. Umm.. isn’t he planning on reusing all the BMW interior and electronics that he can? Shouldn’t he wait until the car is actually running with the interior permanently mounted before doing this? It’s going to be a nightmare getting the interior in and working in the car with a cage already welded in..🤦🏽‍♂️

  7. I swear cages arnt meant to be attached to strut towers? Or is that just me remembering it wrong also love the fd style door bars but they are gonna have to be taller as that ain’t saving you from shit in a side on crash but apart from that great vid

  8. Finnish the frame first! get all your drops and the frame with corrected (maybe run that 2×4 sq tube on its side down the rocker just below the pinch weld and UNDER the floor)
    than a trans x-member with a couple degrees of angle to the pinion (those cv's are more forgiving than u-joints). than you can see the floor location and seat placement than roll cage. i made the same mistake when doing my roll cage before seats and ended up having to cut it all out so my head would fit!!!!!!!

  9. In regards to the rear view visibility, if you are going to bring the 2000s into the 60's or 70's how about a digital display on the dash with a 180 degree rear camera view so you don't even have to look back. You just look to the middle console to see behind you.

  10. yo, just wandering if you were thinking of connecting your two frame rails at all the bottom half looks kinds flimsy, (yes I realize the front and rear sub frames are gone), but even so most people I have seen added in a drive shaft cage I think its called. Protects you and adds stiffness to your frame rails.

  11. That roll cage will not do anything if you roll it. Those door bars are not worth having as they offer zero protection. Nothing currently stopping the whole car sandwiching down on itself on a 45 degree angle

  13. I know you said you might be forced to do a wide body kit in order to fit the engine in, but if you can avoid it please do! It would make this car so good looking, and a sleeper too.

  14. Wouldn’t it be easier to stuff the m5 dash electronics and gauge package into the Datsun dash? Plus preserve the gorgeous look of the car

  15. Why not put a small camera in the rear and use a rear-view mirror with an integrated back-up camera?
    Those aren't exactly costing a fortune.
