In today’s episode we turn our focus to the fuel system, removing the fuel pumps and regulators as well as the entire fuel tank to figure out a strategy of transferring it all into our fuel cell.

Cringing because you're talking while eating. Bruh.
That gas was def dumped in the woods lol
Do you realize how ridiculous it is the spend $4500 bucks on a POS body kit and then nickle and dime it when it comes to "stuff" that makes the car run?
Please use something a bit safer than a cinder block if you are working under a car. Blood stains are so difficult to remove.
That black box under the fender that you were asking about is called an evap canister. I'm sure you figured that out by now but I didn't see any comments talking about it.
That car needs gull doors
Sooo cool
It would be funny to take this to a BMW dealer for an oil change some day. Think those tech's would freak out?
That thing looks like a charcoal canister!
that black box is the evaporation canister to recycle the fumes back to the engine.
Cringe worthy!!!! Do you know how many times those blocks crumble when used in this manner? Lots!!! You were very lucky. This channel should be called "H is for Hack Builds" 😛
Insted of cutting every corner possible and try to get it ready for SEMA which realistically won't happen build the car as it should and use a standalone engine management system so you have one tenth of the wires to deal with…
How about a regular old lift pump in the fuel cell to feed the BMW pumps, which you could then just mount in the trunk or under the floor somewhere? I assume that, beyond the fuel lever sender, it actually makes no difference whether whole the plastic housings are actually mounted within the fuel tank or not
You need smaller wheels for it, they look like 18inch on a Miata, silly
That line (10:46 ) is just a vacuum line I just cutt mine off on my Benz
I hope you will be ready for next Sema, because you definitely won't be ready for this one.
Run that old gas in your lawn mower.
R u gonna sale that car
if you use those pumps… you can only use the top half of the tank? looks like they are not going to reach the bottom… go custom!
Can imagine that has automatic windscreen wipers and the mud set it off lol
Getting under that car while it was balancing on blocks is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen anyone do…
The mystery evap hose should go to your intake, which is the purpose of the evap system. The canister captures fuel vapors (because pollution) and then uses the vapors when starting the engine.
Hey Chris your g35 is on offer up …..
You should put the M5 seats in the Datsun! Would be dope
Hey if you want to sell it please let me know first!!!
charcoal canister.
charcoal canister for the evap system
https://youtu.be/D6pNMqr3Dsg?t=644 – its the charcoal canister
dude, please dont rush this build. i know you like to get things done, but this build needs time. fuck sema and whatever. make the car good, no fucking shortcuts!
I believe what you were trying to say was “to have the most runningest car as possible†lol
PLEASE NEVER SALE THIS CAR
You forgot timing. You need timing to run as well.
But you can’t put em’ on youtube lol!!
NissaMW? Wowsers! I'm all caught up now!
Great seeing progress.
For your own ease I'd definetly go with a standalone ecu just to keep everything as simple as possible. It would also be easier debug if a eletrical problem would occur
The box on passenger side is an evap canister, there's a few vent lines and the one running up front should be going into the intake manifold somewhere.
bmw e60 is not just fuel air spark… its a LOT of sensors A LOT!!
After the event you should go standalone ECU. There’s so much weight and complication when it comes to BMW let alone an M5
That's the charcoal canister for emissions bullshit, down bother reusing it
Ps you could bond and rivet the original plastic hole onto your fuel cell, a lot easier that lathing and welding
nice job 😉 keep it up ; and yes its the evap systeme 😉
as far as the wiring id considere asking a remaping company around your area ifd they know anyone taht can recode your ecu to remove the parts you dont need ( to get teh engine to run without the rest. ) the ecu harness has all the wiring you'll need for engine info ; and the EWS system can be kepte and resodder to the rest if you are concerned about theft. ( allthough its a 5mn job to remove and start the car …. )
any how ; great job !
i imagine that changing the shape of the fuel tank would change how the car reads the fuel level since it just uses a floating lever to measure the level.
"Fuel sending hose" :'DD
will this be done for SEMA??
Don’t forget the coil packs you robbed
