If you need to remove the steering wheel, airbag, or cable reel from a Honda, this video can help. Since you need to remove the airbag to get to the fasteners for the steering wheel that removal is included in this video. I also took the time to remove the cable reel which houses the electronics for the steering wheel controls.
If you need to remove the entire column, you can use this video.

Why doesnt my 14mm bolt in the middle come lose? 1993 honda accord. I've tried and tried and the only thing I may have done is strip it
Thank you
I refer back to these vids alot. I watched this video this morning before finding an epic intact steering wheel replacement for my '94 at the local pick and pull. Thank you for all you do Eric.
Is this the same for elements?
Your the real mvp
What year is this
That was a good video.
Nice! Now I’ll know how to replace it to an awesome looking aftermarket steering wheel I want on my 93 EG! 🙂
If my cable reel is bad and its causing horn to not work, will this affect the airbag too in case of crash? I have paddle shifters that are working fine though
question. 99 Honda Accord. ignition won't turn sometimes with key. need a new ignition switch. don't know how to take off nor put another on
Any chance of the airbag going off, or is that not a possibility after it has had no power applied to it for a long time?
Watch that Takata airbag, Eric!
Bro; You'd make a great car thief !!. LOL
wow!!! all that time and i could have installed my Personal steering wheel on my integra. but now the integra is gone and i have the steering wheel just sitting. i need to sell that shit
Geez Honda sucks at designing things.
Great idea Eric. Buy a fairly new junk car and just take everything apart piece by piece, kind of like a Haynes manual video style. When it is all taken apart, send it to the scrap. I'd say that would make at least ten or so videos. Do suspension, brakes, engine, transmission, body, and all the rest. Putting back is just reverse of removal. Do it to as many cars as possible, i'd watch.
So, are you going to have a video of you repairing a Honda with all those parts?
1:38 yellow looks like Sata connector lol
Love these videos Mr Carguy! Keep this series going.
lmao, more like how to steal a honda.
You sounded a little out of breath, Bro! Why don't you just make a video on how to buy a NEW Honda. No, I get it, its cool. I just wish you would do this with the F150. You know the number 1# selling truck in the whole galaxy! Its true, Scouts honor
it's called a clock spring
I'm just gonna unsubscribe until the whole Honda is taken apart.
I'm convinced this video is next: Franken-Honda, how to build a Honda with no 2 parts from the same vehicle.
Eric's line was Honda, I give a tip on BMW steering wheels. Most guys have only made this mistake once. The wheel comes off rather easy, no puller required. The problem comes when you put the wheel on. You must have the turn signal in the neutral position or you break the plastic tab on the turn signal signal switch that shuts the signal off.Like I said, most guys only make this mistake once.
In Germany, you wouldn't find a steering wheel with an airbag installed in a junk yard. We have a regulation that used airbags are not allowed to be reused again in another vehicle (I'm not sure if it's allowed to transfer your own airbagg onto a new steering wheel). So every car that comes into the junk yard has to have its airbags removed by the junk yard personnel. Then they have to be detonated in a safe manner (nothing like 1puglife does it), and disposed of. Only new airbags are allowed as a replacement for any vehicle. I find that a total waste, but they say it is out of security concerns. Don't know how valid these are though.
How to pull yourself out of a SalvageYard!
Gonna unsubscribe for a bit until he's done with this annoying crap.
Only do this without a batterypower. Make sure that your battery ist disconnected for at least an hour until you start to remove the airbag! Otherwise the airbag can/will explode…
havent seen shop for long eric. come on man. i am missing it.
I like these videos, never know when they might be needed. 😉 Also, some of these tips work for other models and situations.
i can't handle all these SalvageYardHacks in my sub box fair go mate
this is off of a 5th gen accord! Woo!
That clockspring module , dam airbag light.
In Germany, the salvage yards are required to remove the airbag and detonate it due to safety reasons.
Isn't that required in the US?!
Eric Tande? What happened to camera man Bryan?
