  1. A few friends of mine who went as “soccer” assistant coaches gladly go as cheap Labour as it’s a paid holiday,

  2. Everyone's saying these camping businesses prefer bringing in cheap foreign labor. But here's the deal. If the two featured camp counselors are representatives, that means most of them are from UK, Ireland, EU, Aus, Can, where wages are actually higher than in the US. No, these overseas camp counselors aren't coming here for the money, but for travel and experience . . . which does go back square one.

  3. hmm shortage particularly of lifeguards? I wonder what country normally sends them & isn't this year….
& sorry to burst your bubble guys, but Australia's said AT LEAST mid 2022 before we consider re-opening our borders to America, so you'll likely have this problem again next year too

  4. So what's wrong with American workers why you're not hiring American workers from the beginning? Now you want to hire American workers! Something is wrong with this picture hmm, next you'll be saying American workers don't want to work 😳

  5. They claim lofty reasons for hiring international workers, like coming to the states to learn about American culture. The real reason is so they can pay less. The average salary for a domestic campground worker is $45 – 55K, whereas an international worker, doing roughly the same work, averages around $33K. So for nearly the price of one domestic worker, these camps can hire two, maybe three, international workers. There's no crisis. The camps are just cheap, and they don't want to give more of those open positions to domestic workers.

  6. So what’s stopping them from hiring American workers and paying a livable wage ? It’s not rocket science at all….

  7. AND WHY CAN WE IN THE USA NOT DO IT? not enough people who are able to council? That sounds ridicules. Maybe the owner can't afford to train the ppl for the position? The same employees would return every year. They need to invest more.

  8. How are you going to do a story about a labor shortage in this industry without mentioning, or even QUESTIONING, the compensation for said labor?!?! The bullcrap excuse made by the guy, they just didn't want to "spread their wings" at camp? Gitdafuqouttahere… How much you wanna bet that IF they pay em what they're WORTH, they'll show up, international or domestic.

  9. That's what happens when you go woke and let kids be whatever gender they want. No worker wants to be held accountable if a girl comes home pregnant because they didn't properly seperate the boys and girls at night! 🙄

  10. Hello Everyone…
Camp Lord of the Flies welcomes you back.
You're pretty much on your own, don't do anything I wouldn't do.

  11. well, when people are earning more with unemployment, why bother working?
You want employees to come work? Pay them more that what they earn from the EDD.
