39. Note the sanitzed language. For drawdown read surrender. The US has done what it always done – moved in to a foreign nation with no real plan beyond the initial military intervention. Then tried to move the burden of the conflict on to ill equipped local troops and with varying degrees of motivation and local political support.
    In Afghanistan there was the added complication of the unecessary and costly invasion of Iraq – an action which rapidly spun out of control sucking resources and personnel away from Afghanistan where they were sorely needed.
    It is a tale of failure and betrayal now being capped with delusional thinking on an international scale.
    Joe Biden walked into this situation – he did not create it. He famously carries with him a list of those American servicemen KIA – will he now carry a list of the names Afghani school girls – the 75 already murdered and those yet to die. Will those numbers even been counted, let alone have their names remembered?
