Our Trip To An Event About Jobs After Prison

1. A special shout out to Coss Marte of ConBody for taking the time to talk with us at the #AmericaWorkingForward event. This was the biggest event we had ever been invited too. And it's great to see change trying to happen with employers possibly being willing to hire people with criminal records. People need jobs after prison. We definitely could have dressed better for this event. Should of went with the FULL PRISON JUMPER… LOL But what an awesome invite none the less! We also had an issue with security possibly thinking we were there to cause problems possibly because of the way we were dressed or because we were filming. Minor issue and possibly to be expected. We probably looked out of place. But we were respectful with everything we did while at this event. And again, it was an honor to be a part of it. Real change starts with the removal of stigmas and the ability to look beyond appearances and the willingness to give people a chance to prove their work ethic and desire to do better. We were certainly without question judged at this event based solely on our appearance. Little did many of these people know what AfterPrisonShow is or is all about. We are the criminal record. And look at where we're at and what we do and stand for. Your past doesn't have to define your future. Not all the time. And through hard work and determination to get it right no matter how many may view you in whatever light they do. DO YOU. FOR YOU. AND IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO HELP SOMEONE ELSE. TRY AND DO SO.

7. Hey Joe! Really love the videos, I've been watching them since late 2018! A question I got is, you've mentioned before how you can get CD Players and personal TVs in prison. I'm not sure if it's how it works but, are there certain movies that prisoners like to watch? And some movies no one should in prison? I think it would be a cool video idea!

8. I did 5 years in GA and learned furniture upholstery as my work detail. Got out and got a job at a restaurant and have been here for 9 months now but tommorow is my first day at an upholstery shop. Don’t settle for less always look for a better opportunity

16. "We've run out of people to hire" is not entirely truthful. There is plenty of unemployment. What they really mean is "We've run out of people willing to let us exploit them for minimum wage." People are expecting more money. So, they would rather exploit prisoners than to increase pay.

    The US Chamber of Commerce stands for exploiting labor.

19. DC is like that. Lanes are narrow on many streets. People are aggressive because they've ALL been involved in a wreck. A lot of yelling and horn honking. Coming from the midwest, …be prepared to do battle.

20. I FEEL I MAY KNOW why APS ratings are tanking: JOE, you elaborate wAy too much! I wasn’t going to say anything, but I was watching another YouTuber,(and they are associates of APS)and when they started their video, they said: LETS GET RIGHT TO IT! We won’t keep you waiting, like others do. We don’t beat around the bush here.
    THIS CHANNEL WAS CLEARLY REFERRING TO JOE!!!! I picked up on it right away. I knew exactly who he was talking about. I really like the show. I have been a fan for just about two years, but I have just recently shut off my bell for new reminders, and a lot of the time I just can’t watch the show anymore. I can’t handle the “beating around the bush” just to get to the point 10-30-40 minutes later. I feel bad putting this out there, because I do like the channel, and I am a fan, but it’ll never do well again, and may even run into the ground if we true supporters don’t do something, even if it is to step up and share how we are feeling about the show.. I don’t want to see it shut down..BTW I’m not saying he does it on EVERY VIDEO.. just everyone he does alone, and a lot of the other types as well, and I realize it’s needed to keep the videos at 20-30 minutes, but don’t just use us (true fans) as nothing more than: watch time, and ad resinous, by posting the title, and taking 20+ minutes to get to it man.. Get to it, and then if ur video isn’t long enough go ahead and “elaborate”, or just be your funny self, and give us that content we all love.. or JOE.. just don’t title your videos like click bait to get us to to click on it just to sit 25 minutes before we get what we clicked on.

27. The best thing felons can do is dive into entrepreneurship. Most of these folks are smart people who just used their intelligence for stupid purposes.

28. I have commented before that I earned my Corrections Certificate when I was 19. I am now 35 and way back then while touring a variety of youth offender programs, SAI/Boot Camps, Federal Prisons for minors AND Adults, State Prisons here in Michigan and we just did NOT see ANY opportunity for growth back then outside of jobs inside and a GED Program!!!!
    College Courses were a thing of the past and The State Prisons were refusing to purchase ANY NEW weights or body building equipment so the facilities that still had eights and equipment treated them as gold because they KNEW this was it!
    Naturally Inmates found other ways to work out however I truly believe inmates NEED wights and education while incarcerated regardless of their sentences ESPECIALLY the YO’s that MOST LIKELY WILL BE PAROLED IF THEY AND IF WE KEEP THEM BUSY WITH THESE PROGRAMS IT WILL INCREASE THEIR CHANCE OF NOT RETURNING BECAUSE RECIDIVISM RATES IN MICHIGAN ARE BEYOND DEVASTATING!!!!!!
