  1. Very sad indeed but completely inaccurate of the media to hype the story and say the pilot was a hero. The plane stalled and was in an uncontolled spin at low altitude, where it could have crashed anywhere. RIP all souls on board.

  2. Sounds like the pilot caused the crash given he repeatedly showed he couldn't see the runway… Changed the runway he was supposed to land on for no reason at all… So quick to come to a conclusion without facts!

  3. Lear jets are incredibly "hot" airplanes, based on the design of a jet fighter. They are so hot that the law requires two pilots to operate one. The flight training for a type-rating in these airplanes is intense. Sadly, there has been a terrible and obvious omission regarding performance envelopes in this aircraft. This is not the first time a Lear jet has entered an accelerated stall at low altitude with deadly consequences.

  4. Fact is, the pilot had absolutely no control over the aircraft in its last few seconds. This particular accident (due to pilot error) has occurred before and was caused by exceeding the aircraft's performance limitations. The aircraft was flying at too slow a speed for the angle of bank the pilot induced during a turn to final approach and the result was an 'accelerated stall'. Look it up….

  5. Calling the pilot a hero shows how stupid people are! The pilot is an idiot that crashed an airplane and killed five people, he had a stright approach available but was inpatient and didn't want to circle back, instead in darkness he managed to put the plane into a tip stall, the rest is history, i guess if i throw a turd at someone and miss the that now makes you a hero?

  6. Pilot is a hero? Tell that to the two dead passengers. This guy lost control of his aircraft because he was pushing the weather envelope and lost — stall spin — the end — they had no idea where they were or where they were going to hit. Too bad they cut the pilot screaming over the radio when he realized it was over…

BTW, "Turn up the runway lights" almost always means, "I have no clue where the runway is….".

  7. pilot had a perfectly fine IFR landing approach in fog and mist and chose to do a vfr and land on a different runway. this could have been avoided with 0 lives lost.

  8. The "pilot's actions" CAUSED the incident. Flying VFR in marginal VFR/IFR conditions. Turned too tight – stall/spin. Call him a hero if you want, but he really had no control over things once the plane entered the stall.

  9. ههههههههههه

  10. The pilot was not a hero. He screwed up royally.. stalled while turning instead of taking the straight in approach which was an option for him and spun it into the ground

  11. These plane, jets especially them commercial jumbo planes are at least older or older than I am smh and I'm over 30yrs old.., my prayers and condolences goes out the families and R.I.P to all the lives tht was lost tonight.

  12. What is going on in the San Diego airspace?
Many plane crashes lately. Never even heard of plane crashes ,really in this area. Now two recently
Thank God, no one on the ground was killed as in the recent last crash, killing the UPS driver and the pilot a doctor. RIP all the victims here. I am to the point of not wanting fly anymore. Too many problems.
I pray for all, Lord Jehovah have mercy on us all.

  13. I love how the news media finds the first slack jaw clown.. on scene and broadcast their half baked thoughts out as proven fact. No wonder no one trust mass media fully anymore. Hey TV MOTTO "IF IT BLEEDS…. IT LEADS!" if you still think he is a hero, do some more research. It is already evident that he made many mistakes in a rush to complete the mission. Pilot error.
