ABC News’ Ginger Zee details riding out Hurricane Michael

1. I was in this. I was in a cinderblock house a block away from mandatory evacuation zone. My roof flew off and my 150 year old oak tree uprooted. I wasn’t affected by the storm surge as I am about 15 miles from Mexico Beach (not city). Purely wind damage. My mother in laws house a block away in the mandatory evacuation zone (also a cinderblock house) was completely destroyed. Will need to be leveled. The houses in Mexico beach were well built. They were built to withstand hurricanes most even above and beyond code. Some of the only houses left were built to withstand 250 mph winds.

5. Like Hurricane Andrew in '92, which was also classified as a category 4 hurricane at the time of its landfall in the Homestead Florida area. Interestingly enough Hurricane Andrew was reevaluated and formerly reclassified as a category 5 hurricane ten years later in '02, joining the ranks of Hurricane Camille in '69 and the Labor Day Hurricane in '35. Similarly, I believe Hurricane Michael will be reevaluated and perhaps reclassified as a category 5 hurricane joining the small elite list of landfalling category 5 hurricanes. There's too much destruction that's reminiscent and quite similar in nature to that of Hurricane Andrew.

25. How can ABC News say it is the strongest storm to hit the US since 1969 when in September 20, 2017 US soil (Puerto Rico) was hit by a similar storm?
