Based on what McAleenan says here, the situation actually becomes a lot more understandable than the knee-jerk reaction I admit I had when I heard about 2 dead kids in custody. But if the influx is this extreme, that just seems like a reason to stop treating them as criminals and do something that benefits us, instead of draining tax dollars, which are in much shorter supply these days, to imprison people who are literally trying to sign up to become Americans and start paying taxes.
It’s nobody’s fault except the parents that wouldn’t care for there sick children until it was too late you could have gotten care in Mexico but you just had to get to America as fast as possible
The US got rid of the democratically elected president in Guatemala years ago and helped create what is there now.

The whole world needs to address immigration. We used to send in UN peacekeepers to deal with countries that are abusing people. I don't recall the UN doing this since the genocide in Rwanda. 1100 miles of wall + security cameras and sensors + agents and vehicle storage and maintenance centers + detention centers + private property procurement will cost 1/4 of a trillion usd.. and what do we have, nothing but a stupid wall in an attempt to stop the flood of immigrants fleeing from drug war ridden , corruption riddled countries ..it would seem that there are many different constructive investments for the people of the united states to create long term sustainable solutions that target the causes not the symptoms..following in portugal's example is a starting point..creating a real zero tolerance penalty for violent crime..that ought to keep the fbi busy..and completely renovating the process to allow foreign visitors the right to enter and exit our country with ease..if immigrants have such difficulty to enter would they ever voluntarily leave of their own accord,,no..so , the safe,secure entry/exit process is @ the core of all that is needed to change to make border security work…for instance ,, in these central american countries if the people knew they could walk into an office and apply for a work visa which would allow them a one year window of employment opportunity they would take advantage of this service..likewise interested employers can offer employment and transportation for the interested parties..so, every mother of father or couple that secures a visa now has some income so that the children can stay with extended families while the parents work and save some money to return home..

Is sad to see how rude and misinformed people are. In my lifetime I have never seen a war in American soil or any big disturbances so it is hard for a regular American to understand how it feels to be living in fear, living in a war country, living in a country where there is no 911, no food no water, no hope, no protection even your parents can't protect you. Until we understand these kinds of situations then and only then we can blame these immigrants for coming to surrender to the American border and ask for help. America is a good country regardless of few other things here and there but you can't compare to what is happening in other countries in south America.
