  1. The video describes the fraud, lies, and corruption behind the Fyre festival. Fyre festival was falsely marketed as a beautiful party at the beach side being attended by some of the most beautiful and renowned female models and influencers. After using social media for advertising, which is an unreliable source of information along with being suitable and cheap medium to spread propaganda and lies, the festival was able attract many customers. The purposes behind this false event were to earn money, lead people astray, and sell delusional fantasy to those who spend thousands of dollars every year to attend such parties. The only difference is that this party was a lie and never happened.

    The good thing is that Netflix and Hulu are making documentaries to expose this criminal act of deception. Although, the festival management has agreed to refund the money of those who purchased tickets but it is important for the audiences to know ways to judge reliability and authenticity of the marketing information and the mediums through which it is conveyed.

    One good and important aspect of the video is that it assists in characterization of the criminal and corrupt people like the person who was behind the fraud. He not only made false promises to the followers but also made them fools by showing them something to be beautiful and attractive, which in reality was not. This is called deceptive marketing and it is illegal across the globe. He was a liar and a dishonest person who lied about his personal net worth to the investors. Another thing he did wrong was to present falsified balance sheets and financial records to please the investors. The good thing is that he got what he deserved and, just like every corrupt criminal, his place is behind bars pleading for a pint of freedom but getting only humiliation and despair as compensation of his wrongdoings.

  2. After watching the video and the Netflix documentary, it is clear that the disaster of what was the Fyre Festival had no involvement in completed Staffworks. Throughout, all of the events leading up to the Festival such as research, planning, and execution, there was a lack of application of completed staff works as Billy McFarland who was the boss in this situation would ignore all recommendations brought by his staff. In this specific situation, there was no anticipation as all of the staff and the manager could not anticipate anything that was coming. The Fyre Festival was like a domino effect as the decisions taken by Billy Mcfarland were against every recommendation given to him and also because no one took initiative to "manage the Manager." Planning a festival at the scale Fyre was being promoted to the public was something that required time and planning. This was something that lacked as no one can plan a event of this magnitude in the span of a few months. Another thing that went wrong was how they weren't able to fulfill people's expectations. Fyre Festival attendees were promised a luxury vacation that was "all-inclusive" to the priced they paid. They promised people things they could never be able to give them. Overall, the Fyre Festival was a disaster as there was a lack of leadership and ethic.

  3. After watching this video, it is clear that Fyre Festival was not an example of Completed Staff Work. Completed Staff Work revolves around anticipating needs, which was clearly lacking at the festival. Because there were so many moving parts in regards to the festival, such as lodging, food, and transportation, no problems could be anticipated and thus resolved before having the chance to happen. Billy McFarland was working in his own interest by putting on Fyre, so his staffers had no clue about what to even anticipate. McFarland failed at managing the event, and his workers also failed at trying to help him. It can be seen that McFarland was too in over his head with Fyre Festival and was really only putting this on to make money. His poor management skills did not allow for the staff to be able to anticipate any needs and stop problems from occurring. If Completed Staff Work had been implemented in the planning and execution of the festival, things could have gone much smoother, and perhaps the event would have happened. Fyre Festival is a prime example of why managers should use Completed Staff Work in their practices because of how disastrously disorganized the whole event was.

  4. After watching the documentary on Netflix and additionally this video it is clear that this is an issue of not having Completed Staff Work. One word to describe Completed Staff work is anticipation. Staffers must anticipate what the boss needs to be completed in order to take work off of his or her plate. In the case of Fyre Festival, there was no ability to anticipate anything. When staffers cannot anticipate what their boss needs to be done, there is no way to manage up. In this case, there is no managing down either. Because of the lack of leadership, planning, organization, and control that Billy McFarland had, there was no management. This shows that McFarland was not a manager for this event. He had no organization or real planning for an event of this scale which resulted in staffers not being able to anticipate what needed to be done. There was no leadership because McFarland would not tell the entire truth at times. The one word that describes Fyre Festival is deceit. McFarland’s lack of managerial abilities caused this extreme failure of an event. Not to mention he risked the lives of hundreds of people and completely lied to them.

  5. Billy McFarland is a prime example of what Completed Staff work is not meant to be. The only thing McFarland accomplishes from Completed Staff Work is the manager's responsibility to make decisions. He definitely made decisions, but he made all of the wrong ones. This is likely because he failed to anticipate anything, which ultimately defines Completed Staff Work. In the video he even said that he did not expect to need so many resources for this event. He made decisions without any true thought behind them. Not only did he fail, but his staff failed him as well. Nobody beneath McFarland took initiative to lead their leader. It could have been helpful for someone to speak up and tell him that he was in over his head and that things were getting out of hand. The staff is meant to take things off the manager's plate in order to help things run smoothly. If McFarland received proper guidance, he may have known how to manage the event or to cancel it. Ultimately, the Fyre Festival is an example of a failed attempt at Completed Staff Work. Anticipation was absent from the entire project. It was so absent that nobody suggested it may fail until the event had already occurred disastrously.

If the 1950s had this, I bet it would be the same way,maybe even worse. This whole thing is industry based, music, movies and more. This is never going away just like hoes things have since the 1990s and more. This does need to be policed more to make sure this doesn’t happen ever again cause that was just wrong. Social media became a way for people to have a voice, have more fun in life instead work 9-5 jobs you don’t want to work into, now you tell me for thoes who are older “if this was out in the 1990s, you had a chance to make 500 dollars then off of one post or video…wouldn’t you? So let’s not be hypocritical about this when this would’ve happened sooner in the 1990s if internet boomed.

  14. As someone who has produced grand scale rock festivals the Fyre documentary is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. It's like the Fyre 'team' did a drawing of an aeroplane. Then tried to fly the drawing.
    And the advertising produced for the event was gag-inducing. And just as deluded. Anyone who wanted to buy into what Fyre was selling… were idiots.

  16. Fyre Festival is a perfect example of what not to do especially in Completed Staff Work. They oversold and over advertised there event which lead to disaster. They were unable to deliver and the attendees experienced a horrible life-changing event.
