Hundreds of passengers aboard a United flight to Hong Kong were forced to stay on an icy, remote runway in Canada for more than 12 hours after being diverted for a medical emergency.

Uh, let's get a grip here. 9/11 was a 'nightmare'. This was an inconvenience brought about by a medical emergency. To listen to some of the passengers, you would think they would have preferred that one of their fellow passengers die rather than disrupt their travel schedule. Further, while it was cold outside, the plane was heated at all times. Also, given that it was a scheduled 14-hour flight, there should have been plenty of food onboard for that amount of time. First world problems.

I just use United Airlines a few days ago, I took a flight from Phoenix to Chicago then to Detroit. Going there and back to Phoenix I encounter stewardess acting very bougie, I asked about the bathroom how to open up the door she said, "Just go in no one's in there" The other one graciously pushed the door open for me when it was time for me to get my water and snacks I avoided her and told her I want the woman who helped me out. When you coming back to Phoenix on United. The same stewardess who is greeting people to come on the airlines didn't even speak to me at all, but spoke to the passengers in front of me and also in back of me. When it was time to pick up trash I was in a row of seats by myself.I put my trash in the last seat to make sure she pick it up herself, believe me her look on her face she was pissed, payback is a BITCH LOL.😉ðŸ˜ÅÂ
United really doesn’t care about the customer
Bua ha ha ha hee hee.😯
The nightmare of United Airlines strikes again!
That guy costed United millions of dollars. Kudos to United!
Food and water running low a harsh 16 hrs. Guess they would all be dead if it were 24 hrs haha
It’s a medical emergency and no immigration. It’s not all United’s fault.
Boo hoo, bunch of whiny babies!
…and then fly for 12 more hours. Nope.
There’s a major problem when people are prohibited to leave an enclosed bulk filled with little-to-no food, bad temperatures to deal with and toilets running out of water. It seems like nothing less than imprisonment to me-which they paid for!! Why in THE HELL cant people leave until its time to take off again? Logically and economically, it makes no sense. Any help/answers welcome. I truly want to know. Thank you. 🙂
Rule 1:*NEVER FLY WITH UNITED*
If you go to China you may not come back to USA
Shit happens. Get over it…….
my grandma was on that flight to vietnam..
There should be human rights violations for flights that remain on a plane past a certain time. If you realise that time is wasted simply shuttle them to a hotel and ask for a customs person to meet there and temp stamp some passports.
-25? Bah, it was -35 here in Winterpeg today and nobody was complaining.
But was it freezing inside? Sure it's a shitty story, but why do I need to know about the temp outside if it was cozy inside?
Running low on food and water 🤣🤣🤣 it's 16 freakin hours you'll survive
Lolololol a refund is not enough, at least refund 10X and free first class to their actual destination, on another proper airline of course
Well, at least United Airlines never bashed their Passengers this time..
16 HOURS!! .. WTH? I'd go insane trapped in there, not going anywhere for 30 mins, let alone 16 hours. Bloody hell.. 👎👎👎
There is another airline that operates this route Cathay Pacific using a much newer A350-941xwb which is the 1 a.m. 2pm departure from Newark Airport to Hong Kong arrival 6 a.m. Hong Kong time next day 5 p.m. Newark Airport time. This aircraft is actually a B777-224/er since the GE90-94b is the aircraft propulsion unit.
People should be arrested for this kinda shit… what about the children aboard???
They either drag you out or leave you there.
Misleading and exaggerated story. And the two passengers with their sky-is-falling social media posts was laugh out loud. How do you "mismanage" an emergency following federal rules?!
Yes, it was cold OUTSIDE.. but ABC tried hard to imply the passengers were suffering in "sub zero temperatures". And note how they say a "remote icy runway" a couple times… like that matters in a heated plane. And food and water "running low"? Give me a break.
I'm not saying this wasn't brutal for the passengers. I was once stranded on a tarmac for 7 hours in Canada due to major storm. But free food and booze and a couple free movies and it was all good.
You want to see miserable he's people are sitting on a plane nice and warm but there's people starving in the streets freezing to death think of what you got people you selfish bastard's
