  1. It's interesting the interview with his daughter. She would never know if her father came from a good family or not, as a child. She also swore up and down the FBI had the wrong guy! Hahaha. Just shows her cluelessness.

  2. The daughter better have donated all the money she got from this book to the victims families. If not, she's just as bad as her father. Profiting off his crime.

  3. Dennis Rader is an embarrassing idiot. He desperately wants to be Hannibal Lector, but he's just a confused boomer whose pathetic failure to understand how computers work led to his downfall. What a tool.

  4. Dear Miss Radar You are not what you say you are. So Dennis is a Creep we simply can not pick our Families but we are not our parents. No way You are a Lovely Young Woman and so much more. My hats off to you Girl for such Courage.

  5. Dennis Rader just became bored. Spiced up his life. It thrilled him to portray a normal human being when he knew he was a monster. A natural born predator.

  6. “Leaves DNA”, “DNA on the floor”. It was semen for fuck sake, just say it!

  7. Has anyone paused to think what’s “normal” and “wholesome” is actually not? Church going doesn’t mean morally righteous. Boy Scout leaders have been embroiled in child abuse cases. Normal boy playing Indians and cowboys? That game is about scalping Indians isn’t it? This guy covered behind societal norms but those norms need to be examined too

  8. My dad’s family lived in Wichita in the 70s…. very scary to think they could’ve been targeted…

  9. A crucial unanswered question here is what happened to Rader in the 4 years he was in the military? Did he witness, or participate in, traumatic events there and did this either create or worsen his psychopathy?

In my view psychopathy doesn't just happen genetically from birth; there is always a reason for it. You just need to dig deeper in some cases than others to find some kind of abuse or trauma there. His military past and his childhood would be two places to start. Just because his childhood appeared normal, it doesn't mean it was. More covert abuse may have been going on behind the scenes.

Sadistic psychopathy is almost always some kind of reformation of grief and trauma the psychopath themself has experienced earlier in life. They are trying to find the power that was denied to them earlier in life through some kind of trauma or humiliation. By killing and torturing others they feel all-powerful in the moment and temporarily cancel out their own feelings of powerlessness.

To find out where Rader's psychopathy comes from, I would dig much deeper into his childhood and military past. We can't rely on what he himself says because psychopaths always lie and dupe others for the kick of it.

  10. This is why Stephen King is so successful. Yes sometimes evil is large and loud but much more often it's ordinary unassuming and human. The military did not cause this. Samuel Little speaks at length about how her became obsessed with women's necks at the age off five.
