The new technology uses robots to deliver a live video conference call with a doctor. Kaiser Permanente said the machine did not replace previous conversations including delivery of initial diagnosis.

Dumbass family. Shut the fuck up, death is sad. Deal with it
Y does she care did she want to hug him and make out with him when he tells her or what!!!
he was going to die no matter what… stupid people are just trying get easy money…
They charged about 3k for that single call.
Fuck you ABC news!!!! The family's not complaining. I know Kaiser one of your sponsors but have some sympathy.
Why is the old man not home, I see the family passed him on to professionals. These passed him on to some freaking robot. Where is this world is going
Horrible family. Maybe you should have been there instead of waiting for a call.
How is this a news story? These people are the worst. Did you think that because the information came via video chat it HAD to be positive?
I'm not going to lie, if that robot with a dr on a screen rolled into my room, it would definitely freak me out. Maybe I'm just weird about robots, but nope robots aren't for me and I would be off to another hospital.
Very valuable service
I can see from the overall majority of the comments, everyone feels about the same. I was scratching my head trying to understand what exactly left them scarred. I understand the importance of compassion in these cases. However, I can see if the doctor was dressed as crusty the clown and throwing confetti while delivering the news. I hope the family doesn't try to make this into some legal issue.
He was going to die either way, these people are just greedy and looking to profit off the death.
It's sad when someone dies like this but I wonder how they would have felt with a phone call? or a letter? They already knew he was going to die and they knew that he had lung problems…. I feel sorry for the man but his family are a bunch of morons that are trying to profit from his death.
i feel like this way is instant at least you know asap and can prepare and have every last min together. The woman is looking to get famous seems like.
Annalisia please stop. You aren't going to cash in on your 78yr old grandfathers death.
This family is stupid, just want to waste money so you can be told in person your father is dying , you all wonder why healthcare is so expensive
As a worker in the medical field, I don't believe this should be utilized as a means to deliver such sensitive information via telemedicine.
Oh well, it isn't as though you are going to be able to leap on to the doctor and hold them after the news of impending death anyway!
I applaud the accelerated technological advancement I am seeing!
Scarred for life because news of their relatives impending death was delivered remotely rather than in person? Are you kidding me? Nothing but greedy people trying to cash-in on their relatives death!
I don't really understand what the difference is, it's going to be sad either way, so why is it such a big deal if the doctor has to tell yoi on a computer rather than in person, you'll still have the same reaction
