How ‘Billions’ actor Asia Kate Dillon uses their platform as 1st non-binary TV star to help others
Asia Kate Dillon is breaking barriers. As one of the stars of the hit show “Billions,†Dillon has been cast in a role that’s breaking barriers in the high-stakes Wall Street drama steeped in money, power and politics. Dillon’s character, Taylor Mason, is the first major non-binary character to hit American television.
“I’m Asia. My pronouns are they, them and theirs,” the actor told ABC News special “Nightline” correspondent Adam Rippon.
Not only is Dillon playing the first non-binary role on television, but the 34-year-old actor shares something in common with their character. Like Taylor, Dillon identifies as non-binary and was assigned female at birth.

She’s a bi-sexual woman that dresses in a masculine way. Why does everything have to have a label?
I first found out about AKD fron Gen:Lock ; when I did I felt like I finally figured out myself. I guess I had problems trying to find myself for years ; since I was around 10 years old, I liked watching animated movies and shows where the main character is an adolescent male (of course other stuff was good too) ; which made me write fan fiction stories where the protagonist is an adolescent male (not all the stories have human characters) and it would be just them and their single widower fathers ; but my other stories are about girls. I've just been wondering why that stuff.
I think Asia is great and i am a he him.
Congrats, but sorry to tell you that we've always had people in the world struggling with their born identity. The more they swim against the natural current, the deeper and more profound the war within continues. Be at peace. Accept reality. It's all any of us have.
It’s great to see Edward Furlong lose weight and re-invent himself.
Don’t really like her character on the show and how she plays it. Doesn’t fit.
Season 2 started the downfall. Ridiculous characters.
Taylor is such a cold blooded killer, boss of a character on that show. Really mind altering in a lot of ways but in positive ways. I mean the character was just a stone faced killer and a quick witted, principled, resourceful genius. How could it not be mind opening at the least. Great show too.
What a fruit loop. Fine…I identify as a mushroom, no…a tv remote control, no…a truck tire…yeah that’s it! What’s that you say…DNA…oh yeah, I’m still the same gender I was born with, my bad. Fools. Male or female once and for all.
I had a coworker used to identify as a doncky he was born with male organs. Lol
I'm not sexist. But Taylor was fucking boring.
about all i can say to all this is
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It was a good show until they let their woke politics overshadow the story. Liberal nut job show runners
Worst character on the show
Apparently not an actor and has to bring sjw into tv. A good actor forgoes gender, beliefs, feelings, politics etc. Too hard for this one apparently.
cheers for many more nb representation on pop culture!
i quit eatching that show because of her… she just HAD TO BRING THAT CRAP into a once great show.. she cursed it… youre a BITCH by the way… get use to it
Adam, you are not telling the TRUTH, about your Pronouns.
OK, let's just suppose Asia breaks a law, gets convicted and has to do jail time. Guessing a women's jail, but would they be offended by that? I'm just trying to understand.
This person is a she. Clearly. And this is ridiculous. But why am I surprised? Oh…right. I'M NOT.
Just pure love from Sweden, please take care.
Confused liberal extreme thinking..u r either male/female sure as day/night..if in doubt have a closer look at your body..nothing in the world is going to change that so deal with it..it's not hard.
I can never wrap my head around Damian's natural accent. The only major productions I've seen him in he plays American characters. Knowing he's British still doesn't help with the strange sounds coming out of his mouth.
She's a woman and always will be!
I LOVE the Taylor character! I was born a white male, but lately I identify as a black lesbian. To clarify, I identify as a black woman trapped in a white man's body who is sexually attracted to women.
Ridiculous
So appreciate this segment, produced with respect and got pronouns right through. Felt good to see and feel represented!
