The E70 & E71 BMW X5 and X6 have a fatal flaw in how it’s sunroof drains are run. This factory issue will cause loads of water to enter in various places in the car and compromise thousands of dollars in electronics. Here my once $90,000 BMW X6m was sold AS-IS at an auction because it had this major issue, and we sort it out and fix the problem permanently with a zip tie!

  1. Great. Now I’m having flashbacks of my 1978 Rabbit, which all seem to rust at the corner of the windshield, and poor water into that weird origami folded bar fuse panel/harness attaachment.

  2. BMW should be ashamed with this level of engineering incompetence. 🤦🏿‍♂️

  3. Should just check the passenger side see what that draines shape should be it might have been made to be like a 'U' bend in house plumbing with it being what you think it's stretched.

  4. Question why is there water getting in while it's sitting with just rain water? I don't think I've had any sunroof leaks on any of my vehicles. All of which had the sunroof option 2 nissan maximas and 2 lexus and 2 acura mdx. Also never by a car from samcrac

  5. I’ll buy it

  6. This cracks me up, ive owned over a dozen bmws, many older ones that i bought dirt cheap, fixed them and ran them ragged…..had a lot of the typical bmw issues etc etcetc….but NEVER had a bmw sunroof problem LOL. Ill be in PASCO CTY @samcrac in december! maybe ill see you on the road!

  7. For so many sensors that BMWs have, you’d think there’d be a clogged drain sensor

  8. Pull the whole interior out of that lawn ornament, unclog sunroof drains, let it air dry, get a wiring diagram, and check all those wires for continuity. Once you fix all the electrical/electronic issues, and dry the car. Put it back together and trade it in for a used Toyota FJ Cruiser. A much better, reliable, and more valuable lawn ornament.

  9. I'll be damned all that trouble for a kinked drain pipe, and a seat module. What a poor design honestly. I mean who would think of that but damn that expensive car has all those electrical problems just cuz rubber hose kinked smh

  10. Big win, win 👍👍👍

  11. One good permanent fix is to stop putting sunroofs in cars. I hate them, hate working on them. I have been a auto mechanic for 20 years and they are one of the worst things to fix. I think I am gonna remove the sunroof on my e46 and e39.

  12. Stick a set of replica wheels on it from China will only set you back up to $800-900 dollars, they are practically the same as originals and it saves you the headache of getting another car from auction and then re auctioning that car etc

  13. Samcrac: “today I fixed this VW Passat by pissing on it”
