When 19-year-old aspiring artist Sarah Stern goes missing just weeks before Christmas 2016, investigators initially suspect she may have died by suicide or run away from home. Then, in January 2017, one of Sarah’s former high school classmates comes forward with chilling information that leads to an undercover police sting and the shocking arrests of two very familiar faces. Armed with a bombshell, caught-on-tape confession from one of the suspects and the damning testimony of the other, Monmouth County, New Jersey prosecutors face the uphill task of trying to secure a murder conviction without a body for only the second time in the state’s history.

  1. It’s wild how the guy friend answered the police when he said, what was her state of mind?! ….Well, I just know she was trying to get away to Canada!! ….. Bingo!!!!

  2. Here from ThatChapter. This is a well done different angle on the case. Rip Sarah. Those boys deserve everything they get 😑

  3. Its sad that humans get these horrible ideas involving crime and violence that never seem to solve anything, young kids involved in such stuff is scary!

  4. The original series was fantastic, took you through all aspects of a case. But the narrator and the opening music made it EXCITING. Bill Curtis was the best narrator. No offense Dennis

  5. I watched the full length episode on A&E''s website. I was horrified. After Liam murdered Sarah, he told a friend that "the worst part" was the condition of the money. Not that he had murdered his friend. RIP Sarah. My heart breaks for her father.

  6. I'll tell you how this case ends, the first dude they interviewed did it. The motivation was money, and he tried to get away with just planting the seed that she ran away.

  7. It's crazy what happens in court rooms sometimes. In Illinois there have been 4 instances where somebody was found not guilty after trial after a video confession at a police station. My lawyer has 2 of those. So its very possible to get a conviction even without a body.

  8. So terribly sad I don’t know how her loved ones can cope with this ….my heart goes out to them all.

  9. I don't understand how they never found her body. Imagine being betrayed and murdered by childhood friends. All for a little bit of money.
