   , her strength is amazing. The woman newscaster kept speaking for her, interrupting her… Newscaster acted like such a victim of her skin. Of course you got that job because of your last name, speak up? speak up and say what? if they would have hired somebody with an American Euro type name you would have claimed not enough diversification in the news channel. Why do you play the race card? You don't know what to call yourself? Call yourself what you know yourself to be, I myself am a Mexican-American not a pocha, not Chicana, not Hispanic. I am first generation and that's why I'm proud to say Mexican American. I'm also very old and the word Chicana actually used to mean Chiquita Mexicana which meant you were very little when you migrated here but then it turned into a chiquito Americana which I guess means Mexican Americana. Words change, that's my word and will always be a proud Mexican American. Punto. (

10. Cesar Chavez and his farm workers union would ambush other Hispanics who were not union members and beat the crap out of them with chains and bats.

11. Sad fact is today only about 1% of farm workers are in a union . The UFW helped to improve working conditions for all farm workers in California but most still are not in the union . Cesar Chevez ran the union on the principle of Gandhi's non violent resistance , Cesar was also vegetarian and worked on animal rights .I filmed Delores Huerta and interviewed Cesar in 1979 during the boycott . I camped out for a week with the group . The film I was videographer on , The struggle, is in the UFW library . Produced by Jessie Nazareth .
