More than 10,000 Deere & Co. workers went on strike after the union rejected a contract offer earlier this week that would have delivered a 5% to 6% raise for workers.

  1. GO UAW…. HAY TEAMSTERS RAILROAD ENGINEERS HAVE BEEN WORKING 3 YEARS WITHOUT A CONTRACT!!!! WE NEED SICK DAYS PAY RAISES AND BETTER WORKING CONDITIONS

  2. LMAO..Profits and stock shares are a variable payout..When you increase a salary it is forever. You dont take it away next year when business isnt as good.. Go to a bonus program..That varies every year with performance.. Obviously Deere hasnt gone to robots to manufacture..Wonder if thats in the works..

  3. Uh oh….the corporate slave owners are getting nervous. The Hollywood execs already buckled and conceded to the wage increase demands. Geeeee they had the money after all. Go figure. Well old WYT Fox News conservative corporate suckups, I guess you were wrong all along. Now you morons need to contort yourselves and find a union bashing argument for an out, to save face and keep your schema intact. Whether it's on global warming or labor unions or pandemics or "wars on terror"…old middle American WYT guys are always there to get it wrong.

  4. John Deere is like the General Motors of farm and industrial equipment: shoddy, outdated design and unreliable products. Customers buy Kubotas instead – inexpensive and never break down. If these socialist workers and their Marxist unions would build better products instead of reporting to work drunk, then JD would be in a position to pay them better.

  5. Saying the percentage for wage increase makes it sound larger than it actually is. Most people will get about a $1.20 per hour more. That doesn't account for the cost of living adjustment for the next 6 years (contract length), and it DOES NOT account for the LACK of COLA in the last 6 year contract! Workers were bringing home MORE money in the 1980s than workers are now!

I've seen media saying average Deere worker wage is 60-70k, this is UNTRUE. This type of wage is "possible" if EVERYTHING works at peek performance, without anything going wrong at all. With dozens of assembly lines, hundreds of workers, and tens of thousands of parts, this is a fairy tale dream. 60-70k also includes the cost of insurance, and CIPP bonuses. CIPP sounds great, but in the real world it is just another way to control your income! Certain departments make great money, and across the isle, another department is making $40,000 a year…..
