The passenger window on my daughters Honda Element stopped working one morning. In this video I show you how I diagnosed and repaired this problem. It’s something I believe anyone with basic tools can do and save a ton of money on this repair.
If you have a Honda Element, or you just want to see how this work gets done, watch this video!

08 Mercury grand Marquis I’m going through the same trouble the cable broke ðŸ˜ÂÂðŸ˜ÂÂðŸ˜ÂÂðŸ˜ÂÂ
The right side window on my Element EX failed yesterday as I was about to leave for work- argh! I didnt have time to track down this excellent video, dagnabit! I did get the panel off, now I need to order the part, and getter done. Thanks, Eric!
For all these years, I thought you were a single womanizer with no kids. Now I'm hearing about kids AND grandkids!
Ok, I try to watch as many vids of your as I can. You may or may not have said, but if I may ask how many children did/do you have? If you feel like answering.
From things said I am thinking 3
@EricTheCarGuy Great Job 🙂 I have just done the same thing on a FORD FIESTA ZETEC S 2000. It is almost identical the motor and the mechanism. Also understand same as Mazda 121.
eric what is the make and model of your code scanner tool you use for your hondas thanks
Informative. Thank you.
Those gloves you're wearing…..hahahaha
"I'm just gonna pull stright back" sounds of something falling onto the cement "And drop it on the floor"
That had me laughing, brought back the memory when I did the same with a part in the same place on a Focus when I had to replace a mirror.
Nice one Eric
Great job Eric! I have a similar situation with my driver side window on my 97 Isuzu Trooper. The clips holding the window have snapped and I have installed new ones however the adhesive was not strong enough to stop the window from slipping out of the clip hold. Can you recommened an adhesive strong enough for the clips to hold the window in place please? Also I am not getting any mechanical feedback from the window button. Is there anything I can do to diagnose this problem? Thanks
Good stuff
Great
Lmfao how strange I literally just had to do this myself this past week. cost me $45 and some elbow grease. Unfortunately my Element SC was totaled this week so RIP :[
Great info. I drive a 2005 CRV and your Element vids are very useful to me.
The fact that you didn’t clean the bottom of the window is messing with my OCD.
The drivers side window on my Honda Civic 2010/11 goes half way up then back down. You have to repeatedly press the button till eventually it goes all the way up. Sometimes it does it instantly sometimes you’re there 20 minutes! Total pain in the ass!
This is so weird, I own a 06 Mercury Grand Marquis that used to be my grandfathers and I just did a driver door window regulator and this video makes me so sad. I had 4 rivits I had to punch and then drill out. If only they were bolts I would have saved my left hand from meeting a 5 pound sledge hammer a couple times.
Can we ask questions by your email?
Easy peezy repair nice work Eric @EricTheCarGuy
Man Honda really over engineered that door panel soo many things to remove to take it off.
I like to put blue painter's tape around the openings to keep the cuts and scratches and cuts at a minimum. They make suction cups on strings to hold the window up so you don't have to remove it. I've also seen guys use tape over the top door frame or even doorstops to wedge them up. Personally I've always been afraid of the window falling down using those methods.
Also if a dorman part should go in the trash
I use a razor blade on mine when i remove those Weather shields. It helps ti keep water out from the bottom.
ApeShit is good for putting the vapour barrier back. I bleieve it's also called butyl tape. Does make it something of a pig next time though.
I've reattached vapor barriers by simply duct taping them to the door. It works and no one's ever gonna see it anyway. Just have to make sure no tape is sticking out around the edges of the door panel.
"and drop it on the floor…" ETCG, thanks for keepin' it real, Dude. That's one reason why I quite enjoy your videos!
Those big suction cup ( dent pullers) from harbor freight will hold that window in position if by yourself
Your explanations are great ðŸ‘ÂÂthanks.
Spray some silicone spray in the tracks roll it up and down and spray one more time do that once or twice a year.
My Cadillac also has window issues, haven’t even begun checking as to what’s causing it yet, glad I nabbed an entire regulator from my parts car just in case.
https://youtu.be/9-PQXN3n-xs whatreally happened on 911
i went to a "u-pull it" junkyard and found a honda window regulator for one of my accords and the woman was like that's $70….i told her she's smoking crack. then i went back to my vehicle and ordered a $30 new window regulator from rockauto…these junkyards are getting ridiculous with their prices. when you own a honda or three you learn how to replace these very fast because they go out all the time hahahaha
I need to replace the driver's side controls for the windows in my sentra. The switches are getting iffy and now the driver's window is too unreliable to risk rolling down. Thankfully it's a 20-25 buck part with three torx screws, and the trim is already screwed up, so the replacement is down to when I can get the part.
About time I run into a fix for this POS that isn't an arm and a leg, or hours of tearing down the dash to get to the blower motor. (2012, absolute PITA.)
Damn, you make everything look so easy. Wish you were my car guy.
Just one item to make the job perfect. Clean out the window tracks. 😉
